This is a follow-up episode to the last episode where I talked about writing a children's book with my daughter. In this one, it's about how we did an audiobook. We created this little pillow fort of sorts, pillows around a microphone. We had one script between the two of us, and then we started working our way down it. I'm very proud of what she created and what we created together and how she was able to do this. It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to go into some studio. It cost us nothing. Three and a half years ago, I was working in my office. She came in and said, "I want to write a book." The same day, she came back in and said, "I want to write a book with you."    Fake Authors Using AI: Exposing Fake Authorship in the Age of AI

   Are you concerned about how artificial intelligence is reshaping what it means to be an author? In this episode of the Wait What Really OK, Brand Communications and Optics Podcast, I share my take on the growing trend of fake authors using AI to make false books. Fake authority is on the rise. Across social media, ads push quick hit book creation tools promising instant authorship, often marketed as the next big trend for professionals. But does a two minute prompt and an AI driven script make someone a genuine author? Or is it just deception dressed as expertise? If your values are grounded in honorable business practices, transparency, and true authority, this may be a trend to skip and avoid. As a Brand Communications and Optics Strategist, I specialize in honest and transparent brand communications by helping leaders build credible, honest, and strong foundations for their messaging. It is also why I am very much against this trend and how fake authors using Ai only reinforces the weakness of their brands. This episode examines some of the shortcuts many are taking. It highlights how quick AI courses, fake books, and copycat content not only undermine personal credibility but can also pollute the trust that clients, teams, and industries work so hard to build. I share about the practical differences between using AI as an assistant and abusing it as a shortcut. I also discuss certain AI tools that can support your editing, organizing, and compliance, while making clear the line between authentic content creation and manufactured authority. And I explore this issue from a few different angles, keeping the focus on transparency, strategic communications, and long term credibility.
