Kate Kane was created by writers Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucker, Mark Waid and artist Keith Giffen, with Alex Ross designing Batwoman's distinctive new look. By 2009, however, Kate had still never been the ongoing lead of a comic book series. That changes here. Issue 854 begins the four-part story Elegy and effectively transforms Detective Comics into a Batwoman title.
