Wake Her Up is the unfiltered midlife podcast for women who feel like something's missing—and are realizing that what's missing is THEM!
Hosted by Marcella Hill and her little sister Sharon Johnson, raw, real, and often hilarious journey of waking up in midlife. This is where we stop numbing out and start tuning in.
From sex to faith, hormones to psychedelics, we’re cracking open the conversations women have been too afraid—or too exhausted—to have. It’s not about burning it all down. It’s about finally claiming space for the woman inside who’s been waiting to rise.
Time to Wake HER Up
Salad. Donuts. Or... the whole buffet?
Marcella is back with her favorite co-conspirator Ashlyn (@this.isashlynn) (https://www.instagram.com/this.isashlynn/) for a conversation that is equal parts hilarious, healing, and long overdue.
They were both raised in the Mormon church — where sex was sacred, self-pleasure was a confessional offense, and your body was something to be managed, not enjoyed. So now that they're out? They've had to completely rebuild their relationship with one of the most natural things in the world.
The question on the table: is sex like salad — nourishing, wholesome, good for you — or is it like a donut — indulgent, a little naughty, and something you still kind of feel guilty about after?
Spoiler: it's neither. It's both. It's the entire buffet.
They get into the programming that never fully goes away, the weird guilt that shows up even when you know better, and what it actually looks like to reclaim pleasure when you were taught it wasn't yours to have in the first place. It's raw, it's funny, and it's the kind of conversation that will make you feel a lot less alone.
Pull up a plate. This one's a full spread.

Episode 57: Nothing Matters and We are Thriving
Buckle up, we've got two Ex Mormon midlife women sharing how they went from everything matters to NOTHING matters!
Marcella is joined by her friend and partner-in-chaos Ashlyn (@this.isashlyn) (https://www.instagram.com/this.isashlynn/)to talk about something they've both been sitting with for a while: the idea that nothing matters — and why that belief might actually be the most grounding, most freeing, most feeling thing either of them has ever encountered.
As two women who grew up in the Mormon church, they were wired from the beginning to believe that everything mattered — eternally. Every decision carried cosmic weight. Fast forward to now, and a few meaningful experiences with psychedelics have completely rewired how they move through the world.
This episode is equal parts hilarious and profound. They talk about the moments that cracked them open, why "nothing matters" doesn't mean you stop caring or stop feeling — it actually means the opposite — and what it looks like to live a life where you're not performing for an outcome, you're just actually here.
If you've ever felt the relief of letting something go that was never really yours to carry, this one's for you.

Episode 56: Shaving, Church, and Mother's Day: Questioning Everything
What if Mother's Day isn't actually for mothers?
Marcella Hill and her sister Sharon Johnson are back — and they're blowing up one of the most "sacred" days of the year. Spoiler: the way we celebrate Mother's Day has almost nothing to do with what it was originally intended for. And once you learn that, you can't unsee it.
But they don't stop there. This episode is a full-on audit of the things women do simply because society said so — how we dress, whether we shave, how we decide what's "right" and "wrong," and who actually gets to make those rules. Marcella and Sharon get personal about how their thinking has completely shifted since leaving the Mormon faith, and what it means to finally ask the question nobody raised them to ask:
Why am I doing this — and is it actually for me?
If you've ever followed a tradition, a rule, or a beauty standard on autopilot, this episode is going to hit. Hard.
