It's a Walk in the Park...Or IS It?

October is the perfect month to take a walk in the local park and remember the thousands of people buried beneath your feet. Most locals know that Pioneer Park was once a cemetery, but there is so much more to the story of how we came to have our treasured and oft-used neighborhood park. Its history is unique and sometimes surprising. Some of the people buried there were early pioneers of San Diego. If not for the presence of their graves, it’s unlikely the ground would have remained free of housing development to become our park. So join us in remembering them and help them come alive briefly. We don’t want them to come back and remind us who they were! Happy Halloween from Mission Hills Heritage.
