157 | The Crushing Wasn't Wasted: What God Taught Us Along the Way
We’re all going to walk through crushing seasons. We’re all going to experience circumstances that bring fear, frustration, panic, sadness, disappointment, and even heartbreak.
We don’t get to choose whether the crushing comes.
But we do get to choose where we’re going to take it.
And maybe that’s the decision we need to make before the next crushing season even comes:
When I’m afraid, where will I run? When I’m hurting, where will I go? When I want to escape, what will I reach for?
Our prayer—for us and for you—is that we would learn to run to Jesus. That we would cast our cares on Him, because He cares for us. That we would trust that even in the crushing, He is with us. And that instead of looking for an escape from the crushing, we would learn to find His presence in the middle of it.

This week we’re joined by Evan Maxwell—a former professional basketball player who now coaches and uses the game he loves to introduce kids to something greater than basketball: Jesus.
As we’ve walked through this season of Crushing, we’ve talked about how God can use difficult seasons, unexpected transitions, and moments of pressure to shape us, strengthen us, and prepare us for what He has called us to do.
Evan’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes the game changes—but the calling remains.
His journey from professional player to coach is about more than what happens on the court. It’s about influence. It’s about pouring into the next generation. It’s about using the gifts God has given him to point young people toward Christ.
Because ultimately, it’s more than a game.
It’s about the lives we influence.
It’s about the example we leave.
It’s about the people God puts in our path.
And it’s about using whatever platform He gives us to make His name known.
