一九八三年畢業於屏東師專，曾擔任小學教師五年，在校期間承蒙侯秋東、陳柏達教授介紹開始接觸佛法，並參加學校佛學社及齋戒學會、佛學講座等活動。 一九八八年起，於教學公餘之時，追隨淨空導師研習佛法，並參加華藏講堂佛學概論研討班，後擔任輔導員兩年。 一九九0年小學教職服務期滿辭職赴美國達拉斯隨淨公上人學習講經。 一九九一年九月於達拉斯佛教會，剃度於淨公長老座下 ，法名心平字悟行，並跟隨師尊巡迴美國西北各州弘法，年底受具足戒於高雄日月禪寺，受戒後在華藏佛教圖書館受教於 淨公上人及韓鍈大居士，並隨上人赴中國、新加坡…等地弘法，亦常應邀在台南、高雄淨宗學會講演 。 一九九三年派赴美國達拉斯幫助新道場成立，主辦佛七及佛學講座，在此期間並應邀前往德州奧斯丁及威靈頓大學講演。 一九九五年派赴聖荷西，應美國淨宗學會邀請前往講演 。 一九九六年於台北華藏佛教圖書館，講演《佛說阿彌陀經》，該年九月派赴澳洲布里斯本澳洲淨宗學會。 一九九七年經淨空導師派任台南市淨宗學會會長。
