<p>Een ontmoeting rond de sushitafel deed mij nadenken over reizen als ‘sociaal’ avontuur. Op reis vertrekken betekent dat je sowieso veel mensen zal tegenkomen en in contact zal komen met gebruiken of normen die je niet altijd gewend bent. Vanuit de Japanse Alpen vertel ik waarom Japan dit topic in mij losmaakt.</p>

<p>Niemand wil het zijn, maar toch is iedereen het wel geregeld: een echte toerist. In deze aflevering praat ik over de evolutie van toerisme en hoe alles is kunnen uitdraaien op het commerciële massatoerisme dat we vandaag kennen. Ik denk ook na over nieuwere fenomenen als ‘overtoerisme’ en ‘revenge tourism’ en vraag me af of ik als toerist nog wel los van dit systeem kan reizen? Wel, natuurlijk zijn er oplossingen, die zijn er altijd! Over parende gorilla’s in Oost-Afrika, de eerste all inclusive ooit en noodkreten uit Hawaï.</p>
