Terry Scanga with Amy Ostdiek
<p>On season 2 episode 3 of Water Talks host Terry Scanga talks with Amy Ostdiek. Amy is the Chief of the Interstate, Federal, and Water Information Section at the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Much of her work focuses on Colorado River matters, including supporting Commissioner Becky Mitchell in her role are Colorado's principal negotiator on interstate Colorado River matters. She oversees a team focused on managing and protecting Colorado's water interests in interstate compacts and coordinating with federal agencies and other states, particularly regarding the Colorado River issues. Prior to joining CWCB, Amy was an Assistant Attorney General with the Colorado River Subunit at the Colorado Attorney General's Office. Amy is originally from rural Western Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and the University of Colorado Law School. </p><p><br></p><p>Water Talks features conversations with experts in Colorado including water law, water and management and other major issues seen in Chaffee County and across the state of Colorado. This podcast aims to seek and inform and educate citizens about this precious resource while exploring the complex topic of water in Colorado. Each week a new expert guest is brought on to share their insights and inform the public.</p><p><br></p><p>Terry Scanga A lifelong resident of Chaffee County and former General Manager of the Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District. In the community, he served as a trustee on the Sangre De Cristo Resource Conservation and Development Council and is the past chairman of the Upper Arkansas Soil Conservation District, having served 15 years on that board. Through the Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District activities Mr. Scanga continues to be involved with water rights and uses in the Arkansas Valley. Since the inception of the Colorado Water for the 21st Century Act in 2005 he has been a member of the Arkansas Basin Roundtable representing the Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District. In 2016 he was appointed to the Inter-basin Compact Committee representing the Arkansas Basin. <p>Season 2 Opener of Water Talks!</p><p>In this episode Terry Scanga hosts Water Talks as he visits with Kathleen Curry, former Colorado State Representative. She is currently on the Board of Directors with the Colorado River District. She obtained a graduate degree in Water Resources Planning and Management from Colorado State University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts in Agricultural and Resource Economics. Kathleen also served in the Colorado House of Representatives for three terms, and chaired the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources for five of her six years at the Capitol. </p><p><br></p><p>Water Talks features conversations with experts in Colorado including water law, water and management and other major issues seen in Chaffee County and across the state of Colorado.
