A celebrity sits down to do a quiz. Simple enough. Except their only lifeline is a phone call from whoever happens to be available - a Boost Juice employee, the Devil, Alexander Graham Bell, a cloud.
Wax Quizzical is a fully improvised quiz show hosted by Kyran Nicholson, live from Comedy Republic in the heart of Melbourne. Each episode, a comedian attempts ten trivia questions with the help of the brains trust - Australia’s best improvisers, deep in character, completely committed, and almost entirely useless.
The result is a show that somehow teaches you things while being completely unhinged.
New episodes fortnightly. Live recordings at Comedy Republic, 231 Bourke St Melbourne - be in the room when it happens.

Ify Nwadiwe vs. Gal Gadot, Angus Stone and Apologising Footballer
Why did Samoa skip Friday 30 December 2011 entirely, going straight from Thursday to Saturday?
Ify Nwadiwe may regularly feature on Dropout's Game Changer, but never before has he been confronted with such deeply Australian general knowledge. Sort of helping him along the way we have Gal Gadot, Gal Gadot in character as a Pope, a patch of lawn above parliament house and Angus Stone.
A new episode of Wax Quizzical with host Kyran Nicholson beside Ify Nwadiwe, Alex Hines, Sez and Charisa Bossinakis.

Ray O’Leary vs. Cynthia O’Reilly (Raw Comedy Winner), THE Julia Child and Constable Greg from 1597
Which famous conqueror was once forced to retreat when attacked by a massive horde of domestic rabbits?
Ray O’Leary is a quiz-show regular with, by his own admission, a level of confidence not quite matched by his level of knowledge. Talking him through it we have Cynthia O’Reilly, this year’s Raw Comedy winner, who writes her entire act with ChatGPT and has strong opinions about her son’s fiancée; Constable Greg, a bailiff phoning in from 1597 with surprisingly progressive views on policing; and Julia Child, out of retirement and deep into her 179th custard tart.
A new episode of Wax Quizzical with host Kyran Nicholson beside Kate Dehnert, Oliver Coleman, Rhiannon McCall and Ray O'Leary.

Sammy Petersen vs. Lubenschmidt, All of the Above, and Detective Morta
After a Rick and Morty joke went viral, McDonald's briefly brought back which menu item?
Sammy Petersen is normally the one asking the questions, a prolific podcaster who hosts confessionals for a living, so he spends the hour fighting the urge to interrogate his own callers. They don't make it easy: Lubenschmidt, a camel wrangler stranded in the Sahara with a fully stocked JB Hi-Fi and a Tina Arena CD wedged into his camel's hump, All of the Above, a 2016 presidential candidate who exists in a liminal space nobody else can see, and Detective Morta, one half of a noir detective duo who refuses to be rushed even while cracking a koala fingerprint case.
A new episode of Wax Quizzical with host Kyran Nicholson, Lena Moon and Barney Pollock.
The improvisors on Wax are all members of Something Good (https://www.instagram.com/something.good.improv/) - a weekly improv show, every Wednesday at Comedy Republic - tickets to Something Good are available here. (https://www.comedyrepublic.com.au/event/38:174/)
