About We Are Winging It

Welcome to Winging It Winging It is a family and parenting podcast hosted by husband and wife Chris and Lisa. We’ve been together for over 20 years, married for 15, and are raising three daughters while attempting to stay one step ahead of two energetic dogs and everything else life throws at us. Every week we chat about family life, marriage, parenting, relationships, mental health, ADHD, work, home life, funny parenting moments, and the everyday chaos that comes with trying to keep a family running. Some episodes are packed with laughter, others are more honest and reflective, but every conversation is real. We’re not celebrities, influencers or relationship experts. We’re just an ordinary couple living an ordinary life, sharing the funny stories, difficult moments and unexpected adventures that so many families experience but rarely talk about.    “Out Kid Charged Their Sibling For WiFi” - 25

   💰 SHE MADE £47… GENIUS OR SCAM?! What would you do if your 11-year-old casually announced they’d made £47… only to discover they’d been charging their younger sibling for things they already had in the house? £1 to use the good charger. 50p for the best seat on the sofa. £1.50 for priority bathroom access. And, our personal favourite, £3 a week for “Wi-Fi Plus”… which was exactly the same Wi-Fi. 😂 Do you punish the scam, make them give all the money back, or quietly admire the entrepreneurial spirit? That’s just one of the debates in this week’s Winging It. We’re recording slightly differently this week, with Chris away in London with Rock Choir while Lisa holds down the fort at home. Somehow, despite being in completely different places, the usual chaos remains remarkably intact. We chat about AI, people vandalising flyers around the Fringe, and the slightly concerning moment when someone accused Chris of actually being AI. We also try to work out why anyone would think that, whether AI is becoming a bit too convincing, and generally have a catch-up about what’s been going on.    “Just Tell Me What to Do” Is the Problem - 23

   Does saying “just tell me what to do” actually help—or does it leave one person responsible for managing everything? This week, a listener asks why she’s always the one who notices when the toothpaste is empty, the PE kit is still in the washing machine, the dog needs wormed or somebody needs new shoes. She doesn’t want another pair of hands—she wants another brain carrying some of the mental load. That sparks a very honest debate between Chris and Lisa about invisible labour, financial pressure, resentment and why household responsibilities are never as simple as 50/50. Do men and women carry different kinds of pressure? Are we too focused on what our partners haven’t done? And is “just tell me what needs doing” part of the problem?
