About WE CHOSE POORLY: A HIMYM Retrospective Done Under Duress
This is the story of two best friends, who have loved How I Met Your Mother since they were kids...and one older sister who swore never to watch this show. Now the believers are forcing the skeptic to watch EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE., discussing the show's bizarre choices and confronting the dark underbelly of mid-2000s gender norms in the process. Did they choose poorly? Did you??? Find out NOW (over the course of hundreds of episodes probably!)

That Could Have Been Really Not Weird, But He Made It Like So Weird (S01E11: "The Limo")
The hosts analyze the sitcom's episode, focusing on character dynamics and plot choices, while correcting a factual error about Christian La Fountaine's Emmy award.

Return of the Piss (S01E10: "The Pineapple Incident")
We love you, Ari <3 This week, we discuss this ICONIC fan-fave episode of HIMYM. Is it as good as people say? Maybe, but it's also, of course, deeply deeply weird. Watch out for the Spindly Man!

Well, This Is the Show (S01E09: "Belly Full of Turkey")
We liked this one but we LIED when we said we had nothing to say about it.

Ted Saw the TV Glow! (S01E08: "The Duel")
SUBTITLE: "Jesus Christ, We Recorded This Episode In July of 2024, I Am So Sorry." Anyway this is a p good episode of HIMYM, eh? It's kind of like a normal episode of television sometimes. This is the episode where we lay our cards on the table and admit this whole podcast will be a trans reading of the show, an objectively cool and fun thing to do. Also I (Charlie) have been fired as the first-pass editor for the episodes so, um, these should start coming out more regularly.

If I Was Gay, Would I F*** My Parrot? (S01E06: "Slutty Pumpkin")
Here's a question: are WE Ted? Are we pining after an idealized notion of a television show that by definition cannot exist in real life? Will HIMYM ever give us the love we seek? Anyway this is an episode about a REALLY hot pumpkin costume.

Stupid Worldbuilding (S01E05: "Okay Awesome”)
Huh, I wonder where this Barney joke is going. Anyway, this episode gives us some short-lived conflict in Lily and Marshall's relationship and highlights Robin's internal wants! Cool! But mostly it's an episode about a very loud place.

This Is Not a Normal Thing (S01E03: "Sweet Taste of Liberty")
Barney Stinson. Endearing clown? Deeply concerning man? Let's talk about it, while also squaring off in the first of what is sure to be many BLOOD DUELS between hosts!

The Piss Isn't Really Part of The Analogy (S01E02: "Purple Giraffe")
After that pilot, we are shocked and encouraged to find that there are actual jokes in this one! Not only that but also an almost workable metaphor (sans the piss).

A Man. On a Bridge. (S01E01: "Pilot")
In this pilot episode, three queer women are transported back in time to 2005 to assess the objective value of how I met your mother. Is it comedy genius or did we choose poorly?
