CFB Week 4 Recap and Week 5 Preview

A 17-point lead can disappear when a team starts playing not to lose. Sam, McKoo, and Chris unpack a gutting college football stumble, a week of ranking-shaking upsets, and the Week 5 matchups that could expose who's for real. The crew weighs Penn State’s conservative finish and the looming Northwestern test, celebrates Iowa’s last-second win over Michigan, and asks whether Texas is already coming back to earth. They also react to Oregon-USC’s ugly, controversial hit, Dan Lanning’s response, and what college football’s new transfer rules could mean for the sport. Then it’s on to Week 5: Is Mississippi State’s hot start real, can Alabama handle the test in Starkville, and how far can Florida go after taking down Ole Miss? Sam, McKoo, and Chris also size up Miami-Clemson, the first Navy-Air Force matchup of the season, and other games worth watching. Chris brings in his proprietary model for a few totals, while the guys debate the lines and make their calls. With the season already delivering unexpected contenders, painful collapses, and plenty of chaos, this is the college football check-in you need before the next Saturday slate. Tune in for sharp opinions, friendly rivalry, and a preview built for fans who live for Saturdays.

Week 3: College Football is Still Wide Open

Oklahoma State just delivered one of college football’s biggest early-season shockers, Texas nearly erased a 17-point deficit against Ohio State, and the upset bug may be spreading across the sport. Sam, Mike McKeon, and Chris DiMisa break down the weekend that reminded everyone why college football remains impossible to predict. The crew examines Oklahoma State’s stunning bounce-back win over Oregon after last week’s loss to Tulsa, the strange momentum swings in Texas-Ohio State, and what Arch Manning’s fourth-quarter transformation reveals about playing with confidence instead of caution. They also ask whether NIL and the transfer portal are actually creating more competitive balance than expected, with talent now moving in both directions between powerhouse programs and smaller schools. You’ll hear: - Why early-season upsets are still thriving in the NIL era - Whether Ohio State took its foot off the gas or Texas proved it belonged in the matchup - If Utah is emerging as a legitimate threat after dismantling Arkansas - What Texas Tech’s common-opponent results say about its status in the Big 12 - The story behind Akron’s fan offensive coordinator, who called four plays, ran a no-huddle drive, and instantly became a college football legend - Why Mike’s experience at Boston College-Rutgers offered a completely different perspective from a packed Penn State whiteout The mailbag tackles one of the sport’s biggest questions: should teams schedule more marquee nonconference games like Texas-Ohio State while preserving late-season cupcake games as recovery weeks? The guys debate playoff expansion, the danger of watering down the regular season, the FCS model, conference limits, and whether television money will ultimately overpower what fans actually want. Then they look ahead to LSU-Ole Miss, Houston-Texas Tech, SMU-Louisville, and the weekend’s lockbox picks, including a united Miami selection and Sam’s case for Clemson against North Carolina. If you love college football’s chaos, rivalry energy, evolving playoff debates, and the thrill of finding value before kickoff, this is essential listening. Keep living for those Saturdays.

   Week 2

College football is already delivering blowouts, controversy, breakthrough performances, and one of the strangest officiating debates in recent memory. Sam, McKoo, and Chris DiMisa unpack the Week 1 chaos and preview the heavyweight matchups, betting angles, and storylines that could define Week 2. The crew breaks down Penn State’s statement-making 45–0 win over Marshall and what Matt Campbell’s low-key, team-first approach signals for the program. They celebrate UMass’s stunning upset of Rutgers, question how Northwestern State gave up 80 points after losing to an NAIA team, and examine whether early-season buy games are good for college football—or just televised punishment. Then comes the controversy: Did Michigan really have one second left to beat Western Michigan? The guys revisit the impossible final play, Western Michigan’s missed opportunity, the MAC’s delayed appeal, Big Ten replay transparency, and why Michigan keeps inspiring rule changes. They also look ahead to Oklahoma–Michigan and debate whether Bryce Underwood’s massive NIL valuation changes the expectations surrounding a struggling young quarterback. You’ll also hear sharp takes on LSU’s villain era, Lane Kiffin’s unconventional approach, Dabo Swinney’s resistance to the transfer portal, and the growing chaos surrounding college football roster construction. In the mailbag, the trio tackles a future-defining question: Should college football adopt regional conferences, promotion and relegation, or transfer payments to compensate Group of Six programs for developing players? For Week 2, the conversation turns to Texas–Ohio State, Oklahoma–Michigan, Oregon–Oklahoma State, Memphis–Boise State, Iowa–Iowa State, Nebraska–Bowling Green, and more. The hosts reveal their latest Lock Box picks, including Tulsa, Richmond, and Nebraska’s rushing attack, while McKoo prepares for Boston College’s emotional Red Bandana game. If you love college football’s biggest games, strangest characters, underdog swings, officiating drama, and betting debates, this is essential listening before kickoff.
