[…] So the way this was solved, this was back, I think, somewhere around 1999 or 2000. 2000 or somewhere around there, was they started to realize that there could be the internal IPs which don't connect directly to the internet. And then those internal IPs could all share the same external IP. And that helped to solve the problem that just there aren't enough IPs. addresses for all the computers to access the internet at the same time. So routers are kind of one of the main places that NAT is used today. But it's not really limited to just routers. And there's a lot of other other cases as well. And some that I was specifically looking at for the NatJack attack were hypervisors and virtualization and containers as well. […]
