And any fool can see why Bones is doing this. mccoy says he'll let starfleet be the judge of his motives and kirk's like i'm not going to submit to a petty search for revenge and this is one of my favorite things that has come up a few times before and it's basically that because it's mccoy and he's like the chief medical officer like they get the final say so like even the captain like can be checked by the by the head doctor But he reminds Kirk that Starfleet regulations state that the ship's surgeon will require a full examination of any crew member that he has doubts about, including the captain.
