WWTD 387 - Haunted Mansion (2023): Cronald Crump

Trick or treat, D-Lovers! It's an October Season surprise as for the third time our hosts are watching a movie based on one specific Disney theme park ride - HAUNTED MANSION. And despite the shakey track record of the previous stabs at adapting this attraction into a narrative feature, this one ain't all that bad! Mostly it's got a pretty game cast that collectively does their best to navigate yet another movie this company made that is essentially a meditation on grief; and that goes a long way in counteracting some bad wigs, insane costuming, and a truly staggering amount of product placement.

I feel like we have probably said some fairly unkind things about the character of Snow White and her intelligence level in that movie. Yeah. And I think that is somewhat reflected. And her rotoscoping. And her rotoscoping. I think that is somewhat reflected in this movie as well where it's like she's very kind. They really – they make that her central characteristic because she's very, very kind. And I do like that they really leaned into that as a character because kindness is good and especially in 2025, 2026 and beyond – Kindness is very underrated, and I think it's a good thing to put at your heroine center trait.
