Can a Relationship Work If You Disagree on the Big Things? Politics, Religion & More

Can a relationship work when you disagree on politics, religion, money, values, and other major life decisions? In this episode of We Watch Love Shows, we explore whether couples with different beliefs can build a happy, lasting relationship—or whether some differences are simply too big to overcome. We discuss political differences in relationships, religious differences in marriage, financial disagreements, raising children, family values, lifestyle choices, intimacy, boundaries, and long-term goals. How important is it for couples to share the same core values? Can you disagree on politics but agree on what really matters? And when does a difference of opinion become a genuine compatibility issue? We also look at research on why couples divorce, including the roles of commitment, infidelity, communication problems, conflict, finances, and differences in values. Then we share our perspective as a married couple on which disagreements we think relationships can work through—and which ones deserve serious conversations before marriage. Whether you're dating, married, or considering a long-term relationship, this episode asks an important question: Do you need to agree on the big things for love to last? 💬 What do you think? Could you marry someone with completely different political or religious beliefs? What disagreement would be a dealbreaker for you? Let us know in the comments!
