[…] So I was in my master's program for counseling and depth psychology and I wrote my thesis on the psychopomp. Psychopomp is a mythic figure who guides souls through the underworld after death So a psychopomp figure are, they're in many different cultures. There's Hermes or Mercury, Hecate, the Viking Valkyries are psychopomps. Horses and dogs are often depicted as psychopomps. And then there's also, I believe it's Aztec figure that is called Zolo. That's a dog. There are many different psychopomps. This podcast is not about psychopomps though. So I was writing my thesis and exploring how the psychopomp figure can be an emblem for psychotherapists. […]
