Ep. 22 AI Art: Chicken Nugget Culture for the Capitalist Soul

We're back!
Yes after many months of "giving Biden a chance" we have emerged with a new episode because Greg recommended talking about a subject that Ian was already spending too much time arguing about online. AI art- is there anything good about it? Maybe. Will capitalism do anything good with it- definitely not. Join Ian, Greg and new guest Arrielle Mock for this a reasoned discussion about the robots trying to replace all artists and culture with a button that tech bros can push.

artwork: "Luddites destroying machines in an English textile mill" by CI Doughty.

Ep. 21 Critical Race Theory pt.2: Elbow Room and other lies of the US Empire

Ian is joined by returning guest Yexenia and a new comrade Gavin- both teachers in the Detroit Public schools and members of MI CORE radical teacher's caucus. In a followup to our discussion of Critical Race Theory, we discuss the way history is taught in public schools in the US. We look at some of the common myths and themes (some may even say lies) that pervade the way US history is traditionally covered, and why these misconceptions are damaging more broadly. Reality has a well known communist bias, we just want to teach the facts.

Ep. 20 Solidarity with Cuba: #SOSCuba, US intervention, and the importance of the Socialist Revolution.

Happy July 26th! Greg and Ian are joined by a new guest Carlos to discuss the dynamics and context of the #SOSCuba movement. We discuss the historical context of US intervention, terrorism, and strangulation of the revolution, and what the Cuban revolution has meant for the Island and the world. We also come up with our new favorite analogy: Detroit is the Cuba of the midwest- targeted for destruction for daring to stand up to the US and the Rich.
It's a complex subject but remember, if you find yourself on the same side as the CIA, you might be doing it wrong.

0:00 Intro
4:50 #SOS Cuba and opening thoughts
14:30 Dynamics of US/Cuba Relationship: Colonialism
16:30 Dynamics of US/Cuba Relationship: Communism
23:40 Dynamics of US/Cuba Relationship: US Terrorism and Blockade
40:00 Dynamics of US/Cuba Relationship: Victories of the Revolution

44:33 Dynamics of US/Cuba Relationship: Cuban Internationalism

49:20 Deeper Dive on #SOS Cuba
1:09:00 Why Now?

1:20:00 Detroit is the Cuba of the Midwest
1:34:40 What is at Stake here?
1:47:15 Final thoughts and wrap up
