The Quiet After the Storm (It's Brief)

After a long hiatus, Clip Payne and his grandson Justin are back for one more episode of Season 1 of Wefunk International — bringing together music history, family, creativity, and the everyday advice needed to keep moving forward. For this season finale, Clip hosts from Applehead Studio in New York, while Justin joins from his new home at San Francisco State University, marking another chapter in their ongoing generational conversation. Clip and Justin look back at one of the biggest moments in P-Funk history: the Mothership landing at the Essence Festival and the energy surrounding the legendary P-Funk legacy. They reflect on the music, the moments, and what it means to continue carrying that culture forward. Justin also opens up about a new passion that is becoming much more than a hobby — photography. From picking up his first Sony camera to discovering a real dream and creative direction, Justin shares how photography has started to shape the way he sees the world and what he hopes to do with it. As they revisit musical history and the experiences that have connected their generations, Clip and Justin also talk about something that goes beyond music: the advice needed to push through on a daily basis. They reflect on staying focused, following your passions, learning from the past, and continuing to move forward even when the road gets difficult. From the P-Funk Mothership to a new generation discovering its own creative voice, Episode 9 closes out Season 1 with music, memories, family, dreams, and a reminder to keep going. Wefunk International — Season 1 Finale. One more conversation. One more chapter. And definitely not the end of the journey.
