You Don’t Read Because of Guilt (Not Lack of Time)

If you think you don’t read because you “don’t have time,” this video won’t help you organize your schedule; it will make you uncomfortable. Because the problem isn’t time; it’s what shows up the moment you finally could stop. That feeling of guilt. That voice telling you that you should be doing something useful. Or being available for others. In this video, we explore what is really happening when you try to read and can’t sustain it: — The conflict between caring and producing — The tension between two deep psychological structures — And why reading becomes an act of withdrawal Through analytical psychology and Gothic symbolism, this is not just about reading; it’s about something more uncomfortable: your permission to exist without being available. 🔗 You can find more content and the deep workspace on my website. 🔗 Resources and links • Free monthly newsletter: https://gothicalice.com/#register • Blog: https://www.gothicalice.com/the-gothic-psyche-blog-articles-and-reflections • Free 45-minute session: https://www.gothicalice.com/learning-material/la-psique-gotica-grupo-de-investigacion • Subscribe to the channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCzGQMs6xMxEwHTUVBpcK6MQ • Horror and Mother/Hoods in Global Cultural Imaginaries: Representations Across Literature, Film, Television, and Art: https://demeterpress.org/books/horror-and-mother-hoods-in-global-cultural-imaginaries-representations-across-literature-film-television-and-art/ • Women in Supernatural: Critical Essays: https://mcfarlandbooks.com/product/women-in-supernatural/ You can also follow me on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/GothicAlice74 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gothicalice74/ LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/alice-gothic-land Medium: https://alicegothicland.medium.com/ ________________________________________ 🖤 About this channel Gothic Land is a space for self-exploration for those who feel there's something in their inner world that doesn't quite fit into conventional narratives. Here, we don't approach trauma, grief, or relational patterns with quick fixes, but rather with a deep understanding of what keeps repeating itself. Through analytical psychology and Gothic symbolism, we explore how certain experiences—loss, ambivalence, fear, or transformation—take shape without overwhelming the psyche. Gothic here isn't an aesthetic, but a language: a way of holding the dark without denying it or collapsing under its weight. This channel is for those who sense that what appears in dark narratives isn't pathology, but meaning that has yet to find its place. #Guilt #Reading #NoTime #SelfDevelopment #Burnout #RestGuilt #Productivity #CarlJung #Archetypes #AnalyticalPsychology #TheGreatMother #GothicPsychology #DarkAcademia ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★ (https://www.patreon.com/AliceInGothicLand)

The Dark Side of Spring: Why March Feels Psychologically Intense - Welcome to Gothic Land #24

In this video, we explore the dark side of spring and why the month of March can feel emotionally and psychologically unsettling. While spring is often associated with renewal, light, and growth, many people experience anxiety, restlessness, or inner confusion during this time. Why does this happen? Through a Jungian and gothic psychological lens, we dive into themes of descent, death, and transformation as essential parts of the human psyche. Drawing from: – Carl Jung and the unconscious – Erich Neumann and the Great Mother archetype – Francisco Goya’s The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters – Myths such as Persephone and Jesus Christ we explore how what we repress tends to return—especially during transitional periods like March. We also look at how stories like: – Dark – Supernatural – Beloved act as symbolic laboratories, helping us process grief, fear, and transformation. ✨ Includes a practical exercise to help you identify what may be emerging in your inner world right now. ________________________________________ 🕯️ If you're interested in: psychology, the unconscious, and symbolic analysis subscribe and join me in this descent. 📩 Upcoming: downloadable material to work with your own symbols and inner cycles. 🔗 Resources and links • Free monthly newsletter: https://gothicalice.com/#register • Blog: https://www.gothicalice.com/the-gothic-psyche-blog-articles-and-reflections • Free 45-minute session: https://www.gothicalice.com/learning-material/la-psique-gotica-grupo-de-investigacion • Subscribe to the channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCzGQMs6xMxEwHTUVBpcK6MQ • Horror and Mother/Hoods in Global Cultural Imaginaries: Representations Across Literature, Film, Television, and Art: https://demeterpress.org/books/horror-and-mother-hoods-in-global-cultural-imaginaries-representations-across-literature-film-television-and-art/ • Women in Supernatural: Critical Essays: https://mcfarlandbooks.com/product/women-in-supernatural/ You can also follow me on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/GothicAlice74 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gothicalice74/ LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/alice-gothic-land Medium: https://alicegothicland.medium.com/ ________________________________________ 🖤 About this channel Gothic Land is a space for exploring the inner world through a Gothic–Jungian lens, with particular attention to trauma, grief, relational patterns, and psychological thresholds. Here, literature, art, and cultural productions are approached not as objects of consumption, but as symbolic architectures that allow difficult experiences—loss, ambivalence, fear, transformation—to take form without overwhelming the psyche. The Gothic is not treated as an aesthetic or a trend, but as a psychic language of containment: a way of inhabiting darkness consciously, ethically, and without collapse. This channel does not offer quick fixes or entertainment detached from depth. All content emerges from the intersection of lived experience, academic training, Jungian psychology, and long-term symbolic research. Gothic Land is for those who sense that what returns in dark narratives is not pathology, but meaning asking to be held. #psychology #jung #carljung #unconscious #spring #march #emotionalhealth #selfawareness #transformation #archetypes #gothic #deeppsychology #innerwork #traumaandsymbols #archetypes #TheGreatMother #gothicpsychology #thegothic #gothicliterature #gothicproductions #thegothicpsycheschoolofthought #thegothicdescent #darkacademia #aliceingothicland ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★ (https://www.patreon.com/AliceInGothicLand)

Why the Gothic Can Help You Understand Yourself (Psychology & Trauma)

Why does the Gothic keep returning—especially in times of emotional transition? In this video, I explore how the Gothic can help us understand trauma, relationships, and the psychological climate we live in today. Rather than treating the Gothic as an aesthetic or a trend, I approach it as a psychic language and a container for the unconscious, drawing on Jungian psychology, symbolism, and trauma theory. Using February as a threshold month—marked by light rituals, masks, and relational reactivations—I reflect on: • Why dark narratives never truly disappear • How Gothic literature and horror function as psychic architecture • Why what is not symbolised returns through relationships and the body • How the archetype of the Great Mother operates as a principle of containment rather than an idealised figure This video is especially relevant if you are interested in: trauma and symbolism, Jungian psychology, Gothic literature and horror cinema, grief, motherhood, emotional ambivalence, or using art as a tool for self-understanding. Here, the Gothic is not something to consume—but something to inhabit, consciously and safely. 🔗 Resources and links • Free monthly newsletter: https://gothicalice.com/#register • Blog: https://www.gothicalice.com/the-gothic-psyche-blog-articles-and-reflections • Free 45-minute session: https://www.gothicalice.com/learning-material/la-psique-gotica-grupo-de-investigacion • Subscribe to the channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCzGQMs6xMxEwHTUVBpcK6MQ • Horror and Mother/Hoods in Global Cultural Imaginaries: Representations Across Literature, Film, Television, and Art: https://demeterpress.org/books/horror-and-mother-hoods-in-global-cultural-imaginaries-representations-across-literature-film-television-and-art/ • Women in Supernatural: Critical Essays: https://mcfarlandbooks.com/product/women-in-supernatural/ 🖤 About this channel Gothic Land is a space for exploring the inner world through a Gothic–Jungian lens, with particular attention to trauma, grief, relational patterns, and psychological thresholds.
