Podcast Overview

Welcome.

Wellthy Living Conversations is a living conversation lab exploring the full terrain of being human. It is is a space for real, thoughtful dialogue about what it takes to live a well, connected and meaningful life, both personally and professionally.

The conversations move across many topics because wellbeing shows up in every part of life. Whether the topic focuses on physical, metal, emotional or social wellbeing, the intention is the same: to offer insight that supports the listener to live, lead and relate well.

I’m Lisa, the Founder of Wellthy Living. My path began with a degree in Applied Science with a focus on health promotion, human movement, education and human behavior. Over the past 20+ years I’ve managed large corporate wellbeing programs, facilitated groups, guided conversations, coached individuals, created resources, run events and worked closely with thousands of people. I’m a curious conversationalist, a lifelong learner and someone who blends knowledge, experience and intuition to make sense of how we live. Above all, I believe that connection to self, others and the world around us is essential for wellbeing, which is why my mantra is 'connection is medicine.'

These conversations hold honesty, nuance and humanity at their core. This podcast is an extension of the work I’ve been doing for decades: creating spaces for honest, expansive and grounded conversations that help people come back to themselves.

If you value thoughtfulness, depth, curiosity and the kind of dialogue that sparks reflection and clarity, then you're in the right place. #73 Discernment as a practice: make clear decisions for life and work

Welcome to Wellthy Living Conversations

EP 73: DISCERNMENT AS A PRACTICE: MAKE CLEAR DECISIONS FOR LIFE AND WORK
with guest Nathalie Martinek

Nathalie Martinek, PhD traded biological research for decoding toxic relationships and workplaces. Think of her as a guide through the minefields of personal relationships and modern professional life, equipping people with the knowledge and skills to interrupt dysfunctional patterns, relate better, and restore stability.

Intro:
We’re living in an age where information and opinions come at us from every direction, yet clarity feels harder to find than ever. Discernment helps us cut through that noise, in our relationships, decisions, and the way we interpret the world around us. It’s not about judgment or perfection; it’s about developing the inner radar that helps us know what’s true, what’s safe, and what’s aligned.

Together, Nathalie and I unpack what discernment really looks like in practice: how we recognise it, why we override it, and what it costs and gives us when we finally trust it, so you can make decisions with clarity and confidence.

We discuss:

What discernment actually is

Why we struggle to trust our own discernment

How culture, social media, and information overload cloud our clarity

Nathalie’s Liberation Cycle: disrupt, extract, and release, a process that turns awareness into real change

How discernment helps us protect our energy, set boundaries, and still stay open-hearted

The cost of choosing truth over belonging and how discernment can deepen connection rather than destroy it

Simple, real-world ways to start practising discernment in daily life

Links & resources
Find out more about guest Narhalie Martine: https://www.drnathaliemartinek.com/
Read Nathalie’s Substack article 'How to Develop Discernment'
Nathalie's 'Hacking Narcissism' substack: https://www.hackingnarcissism.com/

Discernment Series Reflective Reset Guides designed to help you pause, reflect, and practice discernment in real-life moments.
