子罕不受玉（附译文）
<p>宋人或得玉，献诸子罕，子罕弗受。献玉者曰：“以示玉人，玉人以为宝也，故敢献之。”子罕曰：“我以不贪为宝，尔以玉为宝，若以与我，皆丧宝也，不若人有其宝。”稽首而告曰：“小人怀璧，不可以越乡，纳此以请死也。”<br /></p><p>子罕置诸其里，使玉人为之攻之，富而后使复其所。<br /></p><p>译文：<br /></p><p>有一个宋人得到美玉，把美玉献给子罕，子罕不接受。献玉的人说：“我把玉给工匠看，他们认为是宝物，所以才献给你。”子罕说：“我把不贪当做宝，你把玉当做宝，你把玉给我，那么我就是一个贪心的人 ，你失去了玉，我失去了不贪的德，大家都失去了自己的宝物。不如我们各自保有自己的宝物。”献玉的人很恭敬的说：“小人拥有玉，不能把它带入他乡，拥有这个玉是想请求免于死难。”<br /></p><p>于是子罕把玉放置在自己居住的乡里，派玉人替自己雕琢、加工，（卖掉璧玉）使献玉者富裕之后，才让其人回到他的居所。<br /></p><p>——节选自《孟子》<br /></p>

人有亡斧者（附译文）
<p>人有亡斧者，意其邻人之子。视其行步，窃斧也；视其颜色，窃斧也；听其言语，窃斧也；动作态度，无为而不窃斧者也。俄而掘其沟而得其斧，他日，复见其邻之子，其行动、颜色、动作皆无似窃斧者也。<br /></p><p>译文：<br /></p><p>有个人丢了一把斧子，他怀疑是他的邻居家的儿子偷去了，他看到那人走路的样子，像是偷斧子的；看那人脸上的神色，像是偷斧子的；听他的言谈话语，像是偷斧子的；一举一动,没有一样不像是偷斧子的人。不久，他挖掘那山沟时却找到了自己的斧子。之后有一天又看见他邻居的儿子，就觉得他行为、表情、动作，都不像偷斧子的人。<br /></p><p>——节选自《吕氏春秋》<br /></p>

管庄子刺虎（附译文）
<p>有两虎争人而斗者,管庄子将刺之。管与止之曰：“虎者，戾虫；人者，甘饵也。今两虎争人而斗，小者必死，大者必伤。子待伤虎而刺之，则是一举而兼两虎也。无刺一虎之劳，而有刺两虎之名。”<br /></p><p>译文：<br /></p><p>有两只因为争吃一个人而打斗的老虎，管庄想要刺死它们。管与阻止他说：“老虎，是凶暴的动物；人，是(它们）美味的食物。现在两只老虎因争吃人而互相争斗，小的一定会死，大的一定会受伤。你等这两只老虎死的死、伤的伤，后再刺死它们，一次就同时杀死两只老虎.不用费一点儿力气，就一下子获得杀死两只老虎的名声!”<br /></p><p>——节选自《战国策》<br /></p>
