About We’re Still Here - Women Navigating Life after 40
We’re Still Here is a podcast about women navigating life after 40.
I’m Danni, a mum of two, married to my partner of 21 years, military family, and still figuring things out. This is a space for honest conversations about bodies, motherhood, grief, health, change, and staying human when life feels messy and undefined. No fixing, no pretending…just some big-sister energy, real talk, and learning as we go.
What if the thing you’re meant to do has been quietly waiting for you all along? In this episode, Danni shares why she stepped away from the podcast, the life changes she’s been reflecting on, and the surprising new journey she’s decided to begin at 43.

Episode 13: The Kind Of Strong No One Talks About
This week Danni found herself really watching the women around her… and realising how much strength we often overlook. From single mums quietly holding everything together, to friends facing huge life changes, to the battles we fight in our own minds… this episode explores the kind of strength no one talks about.
Especially on International Semicolon Day… a reminder that your story isn’t over.

Episode 12: Why Is It So Hard To Stay Consistent?
I’m cutting it fine with this one… it’s 10:30pm and I nearly didn’t record.
This episode is a real, honest look at why staying consistent feels so hard, especially when overthinking, fear, and life get in the way.
If you’ve ever felt like giving up on something you care about… this one’s for you.

Episode 11: Learning To Be Kinder To Myself
This episode is a vulnerable one. Danni opens up about her complicated relationship with her body, the years of self-criticism, and how hard it actually is to learn to be kind to yourself after decades of doing the opposite.
From dancing around the kitchen in her pyjamas and hitting record, to reflecting on body image, grief, motherhood, and the generational patterns passed down between women… this is an honest conversation about what it really looks like to try and change the way you see yourself.
This isn’t about loving your body overnight.
It’s about learning to be a little bit softer, a little bit kinder… and coming back to yourself again and again. There’s also a gentle reminder in this episode: how we speak about ourselves matters… because the next generation is listening.
If you’ve ever struggled to feel comfortable in your own skin, this one is for you.

Episode 10: Some Days I Feel Like Me, Others Not So Much
In this episode, Danni opens up about a week that felt like a complete emotional rollercoaster.
From struggling with body image and motivation, to realising she’s lost 30lbs but still can’t always see the change, she explores the reality of body dysmorphia and how our minds can take longer to catch up with the progress we’ve made.
After a simple compliment left her feeling uncomfortable, she reflects on why so many of us struggle to receive kindness… even when we so freely give it to others.
This episode also touches on identity, motherhood, and the shifts that happen in our 30s and 40s as life changes and we’re left asking… who am I now?

Episode 9: What’s Your Dream?
In this episode, Danni talks about dreaming in midlife and why so many of us stop asking ourselves what we really want.
After a simple conversation sparked a new idea, she reflects on how dreams often start small… a feeling, a “what if”, a moment that won’t leave you.
She shares how moving to Bulgaria began as a conversation, and how running became less about fitness and more about mental clarity.
From signing up for a 10K to taking small steps forward, this episode is a reminder that dreams don’t need to be perfect… they just need to start.

Episode 8: The Last Generation Before Everything Changed
In this episode, Danni reflects on what it was like growing up in the 80s and 90s, and why that generation may have been the last to experience childhood before technology completely reshaped everyday life.
Danni shares personal stories from her own childhood and explains why moving to rural Bulgaria was partly about giving her children the chance to experience a slower pace of life one with more nature, more exploration, and more connection beyond screens.
But this episode isn’t about saying one generation had it better than another.
It’s about recognising that many of us grew up during a unique moment in history, a bridge between the analogue world and the digital one and asking what parts of that slower, simpler life might still be worth bringing into our lives today.
Because sometimes looking back helps us remember what really matters.

Episode 7: My Brain Is Like A Roundabout
In this episode, Danni reflects on the messy, emotional, and often confusing reality of being a woman navigating life after 40.
From brain fog and mood swings to half-finished hobbies and intrusive thoughts, she opens up about the moments that make so many women quietly question themselves.
Looking back at the history of how women were labelled “hysterical,” she asks an important question: Were we ever the problem… or were we simply never properly understood?
This episode is an honest conversation about hormones, overwhelm, identity, and the mental load so many women carry.
If you’ve ever felt like your brain is a chaotic mix of brilliant ideas, exhaustion, emotion and frustration… you’re not alone.

Episode 6: You’re Allowed to Own What You Know
In this episode, Danni explores what it really means to be an “expert” and why so many women downplay their lived experience. After being triggered by a strong opinion online, she reflects on handling criticism, responding instead of reacting, and staying aligned with your own values in the world of digital and network marketing. This episode touches on confidence after 40, empathy, hormonal shifts, motherhood, and the importance of building something without compromising your integrity. A reminder that lived experience counts, and you are allowed to own what you know.

Episode 5: A Little Bit Of Woo
In this episode of We’re Still Here, Danni reflects on turning 43, the ten-year anniversary of losing her big sister, and what it really means to “reinvent” yourself in your 40s.
Sparked by a post about the Aquarius New Moon and the line “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” this episode explores identity shifts, grief, sovereignty, split-dye hair decisions, village anxiety, and the quiet rebellion of choosing not to shrink anymore.
You don’t need to believe in astrology or crystals to feel this one. It’s about energy, intention, and allowing yourself to evolve, gently, honestly, and in your own time.

Episode 4: Who Holds You When You Wobble
In this episode of We’re Still Here, Danni reflects on the quiet strength of female friendship, motherhood in transition, and the moments that leave us feeling unsteady. From parenting alone during military deployments to navigating the bittersweet shift as children grow up, this is an honest conversation about borrowed strength, compassion for past versions of ourselves, and the women who help us feel less alone.
Sometimes we don’t need fixing. We just need someone to sit beside us while we wobble.

Episode 3: Listening Differently
In this episode, Danni reflects on why conversations about women’s hormonal health still feel uncomfortable, who gets centred in those conversations, and why lived experience matters just as much as data. From PCOS and perimenopause to the long history of women being dismissed or told to cope quietly, this is an honest discussion about listening differently, speaking more openly, and creating space for women to share what it’s really like to live in changing bodies. Calm, thoughtful, and rooted in real life.
