   The Work Isn't Finished

Preacher - Phil Reynolds "Thus far the Lord has helped us." — 1 Samuel 7:12 Those words remind us of two important truths: God has been faithful, and there is still work to do. After a year of remarkable growth at Westside KCK Church of Christ, this lesson looks back with gratitude and forward with renewed purpose. From increased attendance and improved outreach to the baptism of precious souls, there is much to celebrate. But the mission of the church has never been simply to grow in numbers. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commands His followers to make disciples. In Ephesians 4:15, Paul teaches us to speak the truth in love. And in John 13:35, Jesus declares that our love for one another will identify us as His disciples. This lesson is a call to every Christian to move beyond the sidelines, embrace opportunities to serve, encourage fellow believers, and remain steadfast in biblical truth. The Lord has brought us this far. Now, what are we willing to do for Him?

See That You Are Not Troubled

Preacher - Phil Reynolds There is always something new to fear. Another crisis. Another prediction. Another alarming headline. Another person insisting that this time, the end is near. Yet in Matthew 24:6, Jesus says, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled.” His promise is not that frightening things will never happen. His assurance is that no matter what happens, God is still God. In this lesson, we look at why Christians do not have to live in a constant state of fear and panic. James 4:13–14 reminds us that we do not know what tomorrow will bring, and Matthew 24:36 teaches that no one knows the day or hour of Christ’s return. Instead of trying to calculate God’s timetable or allowing fear to control our decisions, Jesus calls us to trust Him and faithfully serve God today. Habakkuk 3:18 gives us a picture of that confidence: even when everything around him fails, the prophet declares, “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord.” Titus 2:13 likewise reminds Christians that Christ’s return is our “blessed hope.” We may not know what tomorrow holds, but we know who holds eternity. Jesus Christ will return, and the Christian’s responsibility is not to predict when—it is to be ready. So don’t panic. Don’t obsess. Don’t allow fear to make your decisions. Listen to Christ, trust God, live faithfully, and “see that you are not troubled.”

The Bible Does Not Contradict Itself

Preacher - Phil Reynolds The Bible Does Not Contradict Itself Critics of Christianity often point to differences between Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and claim that the Bible contradicts itself. But a difference in detail is not necessarily a contradiction. In this lesson, we examine the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ resurrection and see how four different perspectives work together to give us a fuller picture of the same truth. By comparing the women who came to the tomb in Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:1, Luke 24:10, and John 20:1, as well as the accounts of the angels in Matthew 28:2–3, Mark 16:5, and Luke 24:4, we see that one writer including a detail another leaves out does not make either account false. John himself explains that he did not record everything Jesus did (John 20:30–31; 21:25). Instead, the Gospel writers give us complementary testimony pointing to the same central truth: Jesus Christ was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead. As Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. And because, as 1 Corinthians 15:14 reminds us, our faith depends upon the resurrection, these accounts deserve careful study rather than quick assumptions. Following the example of the Bereans in Acts 17:11, we should search the Scriptures, examine the context, and test what we hear. Four Gospel writers. Four perspectives. One Jesus. One cross. One empty tomb. One Gospel. He is not here, for He is risen.
