De Nieuwe Utrechtse School leidt de dokter van de toekomst op
Hoogleraar Interdisciplinair Onderwijs in de Geneeskunde aan de Universiteit Utrecht/UMCU Annet van Royen-Kerkhof werkt onvermoeibaar aan interdisciplinaire samenwerking om dokters op te leiden voor een almaar veranderende gezondheidszorg. In deze 21e eeuw is een nieuw soort dokter nodig, die met een keur aan (nieuwe) zorgprofessionals moet kunnen samenwerken. Annet maakte in haar studietijd kennis met De Utrechtse School, ontstaan net na de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Zij richt zich nu met De Nieuwe Utrechtse School op interdisciplinaire samenwerking, zowel binnen de UU, als daarbuiten met partners als de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Wageningen Universiteit en TU Eindhoven.

Guus Van Dongen: kijken onder de 'motorkap' van de mens
Guus van Dongen, tot voor kort hoogleraar Medische beeldvorming aan het Amsterdam UMC, is gelauwerd met de Amsterdamse Impact Award in de categorie Gezondheid. Hij ontwikkelde nieuwe beeldvormende technieken om het gedrag van medicijnen in het lichaam op moleculair niveau zichtbaar te maken. Ook stond hij aan de wieg van het Amsterdam UMC Imaging Center. Officieel is Guus met pensioen, maar hij gaat gewoon nog door met onderzoek naar fibrosen, nu voor het bedrijf Linxis.
