What About This? is a roundtable podcast from Jesus Church. Four pastors. One table. Hard questions on the table. Hosted by Senior Pastor Aaron Executive Pastor Jonathan Youth Pastor Chris Worship Pastor David Each episode tackles parts of the Bible and modern culture that make people uncomfortable, confused, or ready to argue. Class is in Session: Naturalism & Secularism (Beyond Belief, Part 1)
"Is this it?" Tom Brady asked that question with three Super Bowl rings on his hand. A lot of the people we walk past every day are asking it too. New series: Beyond Belief. For six weeks, we're looking at the major belief systems in the world today. Not to prove everyone else wrong, but to learn how to build a bridge from what they believe to the Jesus they're missing. We start with the two worldviews most of us swim in every day: naturalism and secularism. Naturalism says the physical world is all there is. Secularism says you can be good without God. Both sound reasonable. Both leave the biggest questions unanswered. In this class we explore: Where naturalism came from, from Epicurus to Darwin Why science can explain the how, but never the why What Romans 1 says about creation preaching a sermon since day one How secularism started as "set the God question aside" and became "keep God out of it" Why "just be a good person" can't tell you where good comes from What Romans 2 says about the law written on every heart How to talk with a naturalist or a secularist without starting a fight The skies keep preaching. We're back from summer break with Class Is In Session, and this 6-week series is all about equipping you with a confident, thoughtful faith — one that welcomes hard questions instead of running from them. Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the Real Jesus
