   The Runner on Amazon Prime: Breakthrough or Survival Mode?

   In this episode of What Was She Thinking?, Kim and Sharla take a look at The Runner on Amazon Prime and examine Mindset Trap #1: Two Doors Only. Is Maia right to handle the kidnapping of her son the way she did? Should she have asked for help? And just because Maia found a solution on her own, does that mean she’s had a breakthrough, or is she simply surviving?    A Different World: Is Deborah Living by the Inherited Rulebook?

   In this episode of What Was She Thinking?, Kim and Sharla dive into A Different World and ask: Is Deborah living her own life—or following an inherited rulebook? We think Deborah may be caught in Mindset Trap #9: The Inherited Rulebook—the belief that we should live a certain way because of what our parents, family, or society expect from us. Kim and Sharla don't completely agree. Kim understands why Dwayne and Whitley want to set expectations for Deborah and make sure she gets the college experience they believe will help her succeed. Sharla wonders if they should loosen the reins and let Deborah figure out who she is and what she really wants—much like Denise Huxtable did. We discuss our own HBCU experiences, the pressure to go to college because "that's what everyone does," Deborah's insecurity and accountability, and whether college is actually the right environment for her. And then there's the $10,000 question: Was Deborah wrong for putting $10K on the card to bring Summer Walker to campus?    Furious Episodes 5–8 Review: Trauma, Resilience & Breaking the Cycle | What Was She Thinking?

   In this episode of What Was She Thinking?, Kim and Sharla wrap up the final four episodes of Furious, diving into Alice’s powerful comeback and the messages of resilience, accountability, and refusing to live as a victim. We loved seeing Alice find her strength again, while Nora and Catherine each bring their own powerful perspectives on what it means to confront pain and reclaim your life. The series does a great job of showing how trauma can affect people in very different ways—and how unprocessed wounds can continue to shape us even when we appear to be functioning normally. We also take a closer look at the patriarchal systems that protect men and allow harmful behavior to go unchecked. Marshall receiving an award after his attack on Alice is one of the clearest examples of how these systems can reward or protect the very people who cause harm. But Furious isn't only a story about trauma. It's also a story about resilience, transformation, and what can happen when women begin to take back their power.
