OKAY…WHO KEEPS BUILDING ALL THESE HOUSES?! 😂

Today on Whatchu' Doin’ North Carolina... 🏡🌊 OKAY…WHO KEEPS BUILDING ALL THESE HOUSES?! 😂 Listen, I know communities have to grow. People move. New businesses come in. Development happens. I get it. AND I like having new restaurants and stores nearby just like everybody else. 😂 But can we talk about what happens when you look around one day and barely recognize the place you live?! From Surf City, Topsail and Hampstead to Wilmington, Carolina Beach, Raleigh and communities all across North Carolina—things are CHANGING. More houses. More apartments. More people. More traffic. And every time I see another big patch of trees disappearing, I’m like…ummm, what are y’all putting THERE?! 👀😂 On this episode of Whatchu Doin’ NC, we’re talking about growth—and that weird feeling of loving where you live but also missing what it USED to be. Because I’m not against progress. Let’s be clear. I like Wi-Fi. I like Walmart. I like having somewhere good to eat. I am NOT trying to go back to 1952. 😂 But can we keep a LITTLE of what made our towns special? And here’s the real question: Are we building communities…or are we just building houses? I want to hear from y’all because I KNOW I’m not the only one thinking about this. Has your town changed? Do you like the growth? What do you miss? And what’s ONE thing about your town that you hope NEVER changes? Come on…let’s talk about it. 👀👇🏾 #WhatchuDoinNC #NorthCarolina #SurfCityNC #TopsailNC #HampsteadNC #WilmingtonNC #CarolinaBeachNC #RaleighNC #CoastalNC #NCGrowth

I Accidentally Became a Gardener! 😂 | Whatchu Doin’ NC

I never thought I’d say this...but I am officially addicted to gardening! 😂 What started as “I’ll just grow a few vegetables” has turned into a backyard greenhouse, checking my plants a million times a day, and constantly looking for my next thing to plant! And honestly? I love it. When life gets a little cluttered, I can go outside, get in the dirt and just...breathe. 🌱 I also discovered two Wilmington spots that I somehow never knew about — Farmers Supply on Oleander and The Plant Place on Market Street — and let's just say...I may have found my new shopping problem! 😂 So I'm asking YOU: Where do you go for your plants, seeds and gardening supplies? And what are you growing? Tell me your favorite local gardening spots because apparently...I need more places to shop! 😂🌱 This is Whatchu Doin’ NC with Demia Avery. 🎙️ And a special thank-you to Godfrey Waypoint Advisors for supporting today’s conversation. #WhatchuDoinNC #DemiaAvery #WilmingtonNC #NorthCarolina #NCGardening #WilmingtonNCGardening #GardeningInNC #HomeGardening #VegetableGarden #BackyardGarden #GreenhouseGardening #GardeningAddict #GrowYourOwnFood #SupportLocal #CapeFear #EasternNC

NC, Tell Me About… What Made North Carolina Feel Like Home? | Whatchu Doin NC

What made North Carolina feel like home? And what do we need to make sure we NEVER lose? Whatchu Doin NC is changing things up! 🎙️ In this first episode of our new “NC, Tell Me About…” series, Demia Avery is turning the microphone over to YOU—the people who remember the places, businesses, neighborhoods, traditions and gathering spots that made North Carolina special. Demia isn't originally from North Carolina, so she's not here to tell you how things used to be. She wants you to tell her! What restaurant does everybody still talk about? What happened to the places where everybody gathered? What did your hometown feel like years ago? And when people say, “North Carolina just isn't the same anymore,” what are they REALLY missing—the place, or the feeling? We'll reminisce. We'll laugh. You even get ONE complaint! 😂 But this isn't just about wishing for the good old days. We're asking a bigger question: What does North Carolina still have TODAY that we need to support, celebrate and make sure we don't lose? Plus, Demia shares what's changing with Whatchu Doin NC, including the Weekly Rundown, the new NC, Tell Me About… conversations, and LIVE interviews with interesting North Carolinians from time to time. 🎧 Follow Whatchu Doin NC on Spotify so you don't miss the next episode. And we need YOUR help deciding where this series goes next! Finish this sentence: “Demia, you HAVE to do a show about __________.” Tell us the North Carolina place, person, restaurant, business, tradition, neighborhood, hangout or memory we need to know about—and most importantly, tell us the story behind it. NC…tell me about it. ❤️ #WhatchuDoinNC #NCTellMeAbout #NorthCarolina #NCPodcast #NorthCarolinaPodcast #NCHistory #NCNostalgia #NorthCarolinaHistory #NCCommunity #SupportLocalNC #VisitNC #WilmingtonNC #TopsailNC #CarolinaBeach #NorthCarolinaLife #Podcast
