You do not have to go to church to have skin in this game.
This episode is for the person who loves America but is not sure the faith argument applies to them. The person who can feel that something is wrong but has not yet connected the dots. The person who is skeptical of religious arguments but cares deeply about freedom, about their children's future, and about the kind of country America is becoming.
Tom Sears makes the case today that the removal of America's Christian foundation is not primarily a religious issue. It is a historical one. And history is not ambiguous about what happens when governments decide that human dignity does not come from God.
The Soviet Union thought they were building a better world. So did Nazi Germany. So did Mao's China. So did the Khmer Rouge. Every one of them rejected the idea that rights come from God. Every one of them produced mass graves. That is not alarmism. That is the documented record of the 20th century. And it raises a question that almost nobody in the current debate is asking.
If you take the Christian foundation away, what do you replace it with?
Episode 3 of the Battle Is On series also covers what is actually being taught to the next generation in American classrooms, why the mental health crisis among young Americans is connected to the removal of their heritage, why the freedoms most Americans take for granted rest on a foundation being pulled out from under them, and why John Adams was right when he said the Constitution is wholly inadequate to the government of any people who are not moral and religious.

The Battle Is On Series: The Two Visions of America
America is not having a political argument right now. It is having a foundational one. And those do not resolve the same way.
For as long as most people can remember, the assumption has been that the battles playing out in American culture are just the normal back-and-forth of a diverse democracy. Left and right. Liberal and conservative. The pendulum swings, and eventually it swings back.
That assumption is wrong. And understanding why it is wrong is the beginning of understanding everything else happening in this country right now.
In Episode 2 of the Battle Is On series, Tom Sears lays out the two visions of America that are competing for the soul of the nation. Not two political platforms. Two completely different answers to the most foundational questions of human life. Where do rights come from. What is a human being. What holds a free society together. Two answers so different they cannot permanently coexist. Only one of them can win.
Tom also addresses the hardest objection to America's Christian heritage head-on. The slavery argument. And he brings in the most powerful possible answer to it. Not a political argument. A historical one. Frederick Douglass was a man who had been enslaved and had every reason to reject the founding as fraudulent. He chose instead to wield the founding principles as the most powerful weapon against the injustice he had lived. His answer to Vision Two is the answer this episode is built around.
Tom also opens today's program with a full overview of everything available through Legacy Living Media. The books Into the Deep, Out of the Cave, Lay It Down, While It Is Day, and The Battle Is On, along with the interactive workbooks designed for personal growth and small group use. All of it is at legacylivingmedia.com.

The Shot Not Heard
America is in a war. And most of the people on our side don't know it.
Not a war fought on a battlefield. Not a war with weapons you can see. This is a war over the soul of America, over her identity, her history, and the foundation she was built on. And unlike every other war this nation has faced, this one was never declared. No shot heard round the world. No mobilization. Just the slow, quiet, patient transformation of American culture, through classrooms, courtrooms, seminaries, and newsrooms, over decades that most Americans were not watching.
In Episode 1 of The Battle Is On series, Tom Sears opens sixteen weeks of programming drawn directly from his new book The Battle Is On: America's New Civil War. Today he tackles the question that sets up everything that follows: what exactly is a culture war, why is the invisible kind the most dangerous kind, and what are the three foundational questions whose answers determine whether this republic survives?
This episode covers the shot not heard. The war nobody declared. The three questions that decide everything: where rights come from, what a human being is, and what holds a free society together. George Washington's Farewell Address. John Adams on the Constitution. And the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 that has not expired.
This is not a program built on fear. It is built on clarity. And clarity is what this moment requires.
