Hello Everybody and welcome to What's Up Roxbury, a podcast for our local community of Roxbury, NY.
The Catskills are once again going through a renaissance and that can have both a positive and negative effect.
New businesses are cropping up to serve residents but some changes can be disruptive to our long term neighbors.
This podcast aims to give voice to local community members, both new and long term to help bridge differences, get a better understanding and help each other thrive in this place we call home.
We aim to discuss local issues, preserve stories, attract a variety of viewpoints and create an outlet for our shared experiences.
Let's see where we can take this experiment and thank you for tuning in.

What happens to a town’s history when the people who remember it are gone? Larry Zuidema has spent a lifetime connected to Roxbury and Montgomery Hollow — first as a boy, later as a researcher preserving the stories of the families who came before us. His work helped plant the seed for What’s Up Roxbury. We sat down on the porch to talk about memory, place, history, and what is worth preserving before it disappears.
