Mayor Mamdani commemorated the rollout of 700 new trash containers called Empire Bins. He says the rat-proof bins will reduce pests, make sidewalks more accessible and improve the lives of sanitation workers.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch says the NYPD has seized 4,500 illegal guns since the start of 2026. She says 100 fewer people have been shot this year, compared to last year, which was already a historic low.

City Unveils New SNAP Website, A Ballot Proposal on Business Grants, An Initiative Redesigning Healthcare for Black Women
