EP16 - The first podcast we ever recorded
SURPRISE! We thought it'd be fun to share the first episode we ever tried recording, all the way back from January. Enjoy listening to our origin story, while we talk about superheroes. Isaac brings the hard-hitting question, "Why do I look up the MCU every day?" If you love the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you'll love hearing us nerd out. If you don't, just imagine Isaac, who is currently in Utah, camping somewhere amongst the canyons and rocks, for sure still looking up the MCU on his phone. Share us with your friends! EP15 - We argue about the podcast
This episode is an excellent view into what it's like to be siblings doing a podcast. We've lost the joy of recording these just a bit, so Isaac leads us through a discussion (in another new format), thinking about why he isn't enjoying it as much as he used to, and how'd he like more structure. Abbey fights him on some of the changes he'd like to make, and prefers a more laid back style. What's wrong with these two... Come back on August 2nd to hear what they decide on! EP14 - We got high again
This week we welcome summer with open arms, and red-stained eyes. It's the high episode, part 2. This time we once again go off on many tangents, including watching an entire 10 minute video in the middle, asking each other very typical high questions, and covering all matter of topics such as our catch phrases, our views on art, and what came first, the seed or the plant? Isaac gets way higher than Abbey, and it's quite funny to see the dynamic. Enjoy the endless laughs. Share us with your friends! Like what you heard and what to see funny pictures of us as children? EP13 - Do I put too much trust in people?
This week, Abbey leads us into Part 2 of our exploration of faith in humanity and the extent to which we should give people the benefit of the doubt. Abbey takes on the challenge of convincing Isaac to regain his faith in humanity, but his skepticism proves to be quite resilient. As we delve deeper into the topic, Abbey questions whether she herself gives people the benefit of the doubt too readily and examines how this influences her overall outlook on humanity. Tune in to this engaging discussion and decide for yourself who makes the more compelling case. Will Isaac's doubts prevail, or will Abbey's unwavering optimism triumph? EP12 - Have I lost my faith in humanity?
In this week's episode, Isaac takes us deep into his profound despair and pessimism towards the human race. Reflecting on the pressing issues of our time, including climate concerns, phone addiction, and the impact of getting ghosted, Isaac opens up about the factors that have eroded his hope. Abbey attempts to keep the episode from getting too dark by injecting moments of levity and contemplating the sources of inspiration and the small gestures that can help us all combat despair. Tune in for an introspective exploration that balances the darkness with glimpses of resilience and the potential for positive change. EP11 - I feel like a fraud at work
WE'RE BACK! This week we're kicking off the reboot with something everyone has struggled with at some point: impostor syndrome. Abbey leads the discussion, sharing her struggles with feeling like a fraud while nursing, while Isaac talks about his personal anxieties around teaching. Best Of The First Chapter
We're taking a short break this week as we continue to work on this little project of ours. Just like we have problems, this podcast also has some problems, and there is nothing wrong with admitting it, and working on it. That's the whole point of this podcast... right?! But we didn't want to leave you lonely for a week. So, while we're away, enjoy our top 10 favorite moments from the first chapter of our journey. We'll back next week with a new problem to fill your ears with as we begin the next phase. Like what you heard and what to see funny pictures of us as children? EP10 - Why did we play in a Mario Kart tournament?
Happy 10th episode! This week we recap the epic and eventual Mario Kart tournament we partook in, and explain how on Earth we got there in the first place. Isaac shares how important the game is to him and his friends and talks about how insanely good they all are. The conversation spans parties, hang-anxiety, fake IDs, more weed talk, cussing, dating apps, and so much more. Buckle up! Like what you heard and what to see funny pictures of us as children? EP9 - Why do I like dinosaurs?
NERD ALERT. Isaac brings a problem dear (and large) to his heart - DINOSAURS. He's been obsessed with those gigantic, beautiful, stunning beasts for his whole life, ever since he marched plastic figurines down the hallway. Then he read a book as an adult, and it reignited his passion all over again. Abbey does her best to engage in a conversation she cares very little about, but has plenty of childhood stories of Isaac taking over playtime with his giant reptiles. Isaac talks about where his obsession came from as a kid and shares probably one too many of his favorite dinosaur facts. Together we talk about why something that lived so long ago is so interesting, which leads into a discussion about just how old this planet is, and the human desire to control something that can't be contained. Listen in and hope you learn something along the way! Like what you heard and what to see funny pictures of us as children? EP8 - Why do we smoke weed?
Happy 4/20! To properly celebrate, we partake in one of our favorite pastimes... Smoking that sweet sweet weed. It is highly encouraged to join us as we embark on this roller coaster of a conversation. Safe to say you won't have a hard time understanding why we like marijuana. We start by talking about movies we love to watch high, then we ask Alexa one too many questions about how big Clifford is, and then spend a long time dissecting Abbey's inability to "see" things in her mind. There's plenty of laughter, a lot of ridiculous high quotes, and many discussions around our senses and deep thoughts. Good luck trying to keep up with it. EP7 - Why do I watch reality TV?
Today is a fun one, because this is a problem both of us do NOT share. Abbey loves reality TV, specifically the dating ones. Isaac hates everything about those stupid shows about finding love. We talk about all the different kinds of reality shows there are, Isaac talks a lot about Survivor (which is the only one he really watches), and Abbey shares what about reality shows appeal to her. Isaac talks about how fake the shows seem and Abbey loves how she can turn off her brain, but they both agree there can be something inspiring about them. EP6 - Why do I listen to country music?
Howdy folks! This week, Isaac wants to help answer the question... Why do I listen to country music? He's gotten so much hate for it, and it's about time he explains himself. He talks about a strange personality trait where he decides to dislike things everyone loves and like things everyone hates, as well as nostalgia and lovey feelings the twang of country music brings him. Abbey asks the big question: can you/should you separate the artist from the art, which takes us down a fascinating path. Hopefully all you country haters will come to see a different side after this episode! Like what you heard and what to see funny pictures of us as children? EP5 - Why do I get so annoyed about so many things?
It's Abbey's birthday episode! To celebrate, Abbey is gifting us all with a question that our entire family has pondered for many years. Why does Abbey get so annoyed about everything? Abbey takes us through some stories that really highlight this issue, ranging from her getting mad at a friend suggesting she eat a brownie to a coworker getting under her skin. Isaac shares his experience with being being on the receiving end of her rage, and also talks about how bonding it is to talk about things that annoy us. EP4 - Why do I want to rush into relationships?
This week, Isaac brings us a problem he's been struggling with around dating. Why does he want to breeze past the beginning stage of a relationship, and make things so serious, so fast? Through this episode, Isaac comes to grips with how serious he takes the task of finding a partner. He shares some past experiences, the tunnel vision he gets when he decides he likes a girl, and the overall anxiety that surrounds this topic. Abbey discusses how gender roles might play a role and talks about how TV and movies have skewed our idea of what a good romance should look like. EP3 - Why do I think there needs to be a strong connection on the first date?
Abbey brings us the problem today! She recently went on a date that wasn't that great, but she's wondering if its a problem that she wants to give up on it so fast, after just one date. Should she be willing to go on a second date, even if she didn't feel that spark on date one? This is something Isaac very much struggles with as well. Together we talk about what a good first date might be, what we look for in a partner on a first date, and what we find attractive. Abbey introduces the world to her "string bean scale". Isaac talks about the best first date he ever went on. And by the end, Abbey might just have the greatest first date lined up in history. EP2 - What's wrong with our dating lives?
This week we go way back to the beginning, to give you all a rapid fire review of our dating history thus far. Since we'll be talking about our dating lives a lot, it only makes sense to start with all of the "problems" we have had with trying to find the love of our lives. Abbey brags that she had crushes on 5 boys in kindergarten, and in high school thought everyone who was dating someone was "weird". Isaac shares about how oblivious he was to a girl telling him she "loved him" in middle school, and how he's still looking for the "perfect" person. We both share a lot of anxieties and fears around this topic, and you'll hear plenty of patterns that will lead into wonderful future episodes down the line. EP1 - Why are we making this podcast?
To get us started, we are answering the question everyone is curious about... why are we making this podcast? What's the point of adding another podcast to the millions that already exist? Together we discuss how we feel about telling people about it, how people who knows us will react, and we give a rapid fire of the many problems we both have. Abbey talks about her personal reasons for wanting to do this. Isaac speaks to why he thinks it will be useful to the broader audience. This is gonna be fun.
