[…] Mm-hmm. The Theatre of Marcellus was associated with the Savelli family in the 14th century. They built a palazzo in its ruins. By the 18th century, 1712, it comes into the ownership of the Orsini family. So these are all big-name Roman families. And they built the Palazzo Orsini. They added towers. They walled up the arches. They would have been open originally. They are walled up now. Right. Right. So we've got this kind of palazzi being built within it, but the lower level we think continued to house shops and cheap housing. Very grand people, but also quite ordinary people using it. They'd been there since the medieval period and they were there until 1926. […]
