We talk about family, growing up in the South End, their Cape Verdean roots, and how their family is a huge part of who they are and what they do. The twins also talk about growing up in Orlando, going to Poinciana High, working in the restaurant industry since they were teenagers, and somehow finding out that Andre was living in the same area around the same time. A big part of the conversation is the work they do with kids and the community. They talk about their prom giveback, which started with just two students and has grown to working with dozens of students and multiple schools. They’re helping seniors with everything from hair and makeup to gowns and suits, giving kids an experience they might not otherwise get. We also get into sports, coaching, education, family, their dad being a musician, and how their brand represents the family that helped build it.    EP 66 - FULL CIRCLE JOURNEY FT C-MILLZY

   We’re back with another one. This time we sit down with C-Millzy. Andre has known him since he was a kid, so this one is a real full circle moment. C-Millzy opens up about growing up in Lawrence, getting caught up in the system at a young age, and what it was like trying to figure life out when you’re still a kid yourself. He talks about his older brothers, the environment he grew up around, and how easy it can be to follow a path simply because that’s what you see around you. But the conversation isn’t just about where he came from. It’s about what happens when you start looking back at your life and taking accountability for the things you could have done differently. We get into fatherhood, family, anger, mental health, healing, and learning how to see situations from somebody else’s perspective. C-Millzy talks about becoming a father and how being there for his kids has changed the way he looks at life. We also look back at the days when Andre used to mentor C-Millzy as a kid, proving how powerful those early connections can be long after a program is over. C-Millzy has now come full circle, building a free program of his own where young people can come in, work on music, record, and have a space to create. That part of the conversation really hit because sometimes you don’t realize the impact you had on somebody until years later. And of course, we still had plenty of WAW in the middle of all of it.    WAW POD S6 EP 65 - FINDING YOUR WAY FT MONAVELI

   We Are back, and sometimes you don’t realize how far you’ve come until you look back. This episode of Where Are We Podcast is with Monaveli, and this conversation goes way beyond music. We sit down with Monaveli to talk about growing up in Brockton, finding her way into the creative world, and the people who helped shape the person she is today. From discovering SoundLab and finding a place where she finally felt like she belonged, to being mentored by artists who saw something in her early on, Monaveli takes us through the moments that helped build her foundation. But what stands out most is how much of her journey has been about people. Family. Friends. Mentors. Her team. The people she considers family even though they aren't related by blood. Monaveli talks about being raised primarily by her mother, having a small but strong support system, and learning that you don't always have to do everything yourself. As her career grew and she signed to a label, she had to learn how to communicate, trust the people around her, and let other people play a role in something she spent so much time building on her own. We also get into what it means to give back. After being mentored herself, Monaveli has found ways to work with younger creatives and return to the same spaces that helped her grow. She talks about wanting young people to see somebody who came from their community and realize that a creative career isn't some unrealistic dream. Then the story gets bigger. Music has taken Monaveli far beyond Brockton, from Budapest to Iceland, Bristol, and Amsterdam. She shares what it was like building an international tour, performing for audiences who were experiencing her culture and music from a completely different perspective, and watching her team turn something that once felt like a dream into an actual life. There's a moment in the conversation where she describes looking around Amsterdam and seeing people from home beside her — creating, performing, shooting videos, and getting paid to do what they love.
