White Rabbit NOLA Episode: 07 Bouffant Bouffant

In this episode, we sit down with Bouffant Bouffant—DJ, producer, artist, promoter, and the community builder behind Gimme A Reason, one of New Orleans' defining alternative queer dance parties. Bouffant traces his journey from growing up queer in a small Cajun community to discovering music as both an escape and a way to connect. He shares how New Orleans nightlife, European club culture, warehouse parties, and the city's DIY spirit shaped his approach to DJing and organizing. The conversation explores more than a decade of Gimme A Reason, its home at Poor Boys, the challenges of building an underground dance scene, and the connections formed when different corners of New Orleans meet on the same dance floor. Bouffant also reflects on the legacy of the city's rave culture, performing in Berlin and across Asia, and his plans to make more music—and perhaps turn Gimme A Reason into a record label. At its heart, this is a conversation about persistence, belonging, and the dance floor as a place where community becomes memory. White Rabbit NOLA Episode: 06 NOLA EDM

This episode centers on Ayanna Lovelady — the creative force behind NOLA EDM, a grassroots platform dedicated to documenting and uplifting New Orleans dance music culture. What began as a dormant community page evolved under Ayanna's direction into a growing media hub focused on artist interviews, event coverage, cultural preservation, and community connection across the Gulf South. This conversation moves through the deeper realities of building a scene in New Orleans — the fragmentation between collectives, the disappearance of venues and festivals, and the importance of preserving the history of local rave culture before it's lost. Ayanna reflects on navigating nightlife spaces as a Black woman, balancing burnout and ambition, and learning how to build something intentionally rather than chasing visibility for its own sake. We also dive into the changing landscape of dance music in the city, the role platforms like NOLA EDM can play in connecting isolated pockets of the community, and why archiving stories, spaces, and sounds matters just as much as promoting the next event. Along the way, Ayanna shares her perspective on collaboration, sustainability, representation, and the future she hopes to help shape for New Orleans nightlife. This episode also features a recording from Arthur Yves during a performance earlier this year in Vancouver for Hospital Records. follow the white rabbit. White Rabbit NOLA Episode: 05 Paul O'Neill

This episode centers on Paul O'Neill — a longtime selector whose journey into music started early, shaped by a household of musicians and a life spent chasing progression, both physically and creatively. From discovering underground parties as a teenager to teaching himself how to mix on vinyl without guidance, Paul's path has always been driven by curiosity and instinct. This conversation moves through the deeper side of DJ culture — the kind that isn't about quick hits or trends, but about long-form storytelling, control, and restraint. Paul breaks down his approach to building a room over hours, why he values patience over flash, and how rhythm and basslines guide everything he plays. We also get into his evolution as an artist — stepping away from DJing and returning, transitioning from vinyl to digital, and navigating a scene that's constantly shifting while staying true to his own sound. Along the way, he shares insights on avoiding formulaic music, protecting creative identity, and why, at the end of the day, all that really matters is what's playing in the moment. follow the white rabbit. White Rabbit NOLA Episode: 04 ZEVi

Welcome to the next chapter of the White Rabbit Podcast — a conversation with Zevi Ryan (ZEVi), a DJ, producer, curator, and educator whose approach to music sits at the intersection of craft, intention, and community. This episode explores the idea of DJing not just as performance, but as an art form — something shaped by patience, taste, and the spaces we build for people to experience music together. At the center of the conversation is Zevi's perspective on protecting the creative spirit of DJing. We dig into process — how he builds mixes, what inspires his selections, and how his work as a music educator influences the way he thinks about access, community, and the responsibility artists have to the cultures they participate in. White Rabbit NOLA Episode: 03 Greg Lane

Welcome to the next chapter of the White Rabbit podcast — a grounded look at the Gulf Coast underground through Greg Lane, a.k.a. GMoney — DJ, longtime scene-head, and a believer in the kind of culture that can't be faked. This episode is less about hype and more about the craft: how a night is built, how a scene survives, and how intention shows up in sound. At the center is Greg's patient approach to DJing — long blends, looping textures, and transitions you don't notice until you're already somewhere new. We talk gear and philosophy: why he still loves Traktor for control, what he misses about old-school mixers, and why the "slow mix" can hit harder than the modern rush to the next drop. We also trace the moments that formed him — from the lore of the State Palace era to the night Josh Wink made everything click — and what it means to bring that renegade spirit forward today through collaboration, open-decks like Area 34, and tangible culture like flyers and vinyl. White Rabbit NOLA Episode: 02 Glassy Eye

Welcome to the next chapter of the White Rabbit podcast — a focused look into the heartbeat of New Orleans' drum & bass underground, shaped by the people who've committed themselves to keeping it alive. This episode centers on Glassy Eye — Joe Duzac — a longtime DJ, producer, and community builder whose work spans dance floors, live hardware, radio waves, and late-night rooms across the city. This episode moves through fast broken beats, heavy atmospheres, and the momentum that comes from years of showing up for a sound. From early days opening for local DJs, to helping grow NOLADNB into a nationally recognized collective, to rebuilding dance floors in the wake of COVID through Jungle Punch, Glassy Eye's journey reflects the evolution of a scene that thrives on intention and collaboration. Alongside the music, this episode features an in-depth conversation with Joe about discovering drum & bass, transitioning from live bands to solo electronic performance, learning the craft of DJing, and the balance between playing records, performing live with hardware, and hosting a biweekly online radio show. Together, we talk about community, longevity, creative focus, and the quiet work it takes to sustain an underground culture in a city that demands authenticity. Recorded with intention.
