Ep. 111 - Building a Civilization That Lasts: Reality-Based Decisions Meet Human Desire

Why do civilizations fail? In this episode of Why Are We Here on Earth, host T.A. continues his look at human history and argues that every society built on belief alone eventually collapses when reality comes knocking. His answer isn’t to replace belief with facts, but to combine desire-driven belief with reality-based decision-making guided by logic, reason, and wisdom. Along the way, he explores how our civilization may have reached its limits, and what it would take to build one that can last into the future. Ep. 110 - Clay, Fabric, and the Relay Race: A Civilization Built for the Future

In this continuation from last week, host T.A. makes his case plain: there is only one system of government built for the future, and that is the original framework of the U.S. Constitution, before it was loaded down by sociopolitical maneuvering. Here's what he covers. Why he says everything added since should be set aside (not thrown out), then re-evaluated at a new constitutional convention using the methods God laid out and Jesus displayedJeremiah 18 and the potter's house: God's job is to shape the "clay," which T.A. says means individual lives, into a useful whole, and civilization is the measuring stickWhat separated Jesus from the rest of us, which T.A. says came down to information and attitudeThe human race as a relay race, and what he calls "dropping out" for those who stay locked in the animal perspectiveThe animal decision-making method (follow desire) vs. the method he prescribes: logic to frame the decision, reason to weigh the inputs, and wisdom to choose what is scalable, sustainable, and good for everyoneWhy he says education, politics, and religion can all function as belief systems, and why he says reality trumps every beliefA story about a young woman whose father says free will doesn't exist, and a "tree falling in the forest" argument for why it can still be realChristianity as an ethic, not a religion, and his account of how it was "pirated" by religionHis three big questions: who we are, what we are, and why we are here on Earth

Ep. 109 - Freedom, Power & the Loss of Reason

What happens when the pursuit of power replaces self-governance, reason, and individual responsibility? On this episode of Why Are We Here on Earth, T.A. examines the evolution of American government and argues that the country has moved far from the principles envisioned by its founders. He explores the role of political parties, elections, the expanding power of government, and what he believes has happened to the original structure of American self-governance.T.A. connects these ideas to a larger discussion about freedom, responsibility, fear, and human nature. He argues that freedom requires individuals to take responsibility for their choices rather than surrendering that responsibility to those who promise protection or authority. The conversation then moves into the relationship between Christianity, religion, science, and the search for truth. T.A. distinguishes between following Christ and following organized religion, and explores his belief that the original Christian ethic was intended to help people develop a different way of making decisions. He also discusses the historical relationship between religious institutions, scientific discovery, and the pursuit of knowledge. From the Founding Fathers and the Constitution to modern politics, socialism, religion, and the nature of evil, T.A. challenges listeners to question the systems and beliefs they have inherited—and to think for themselves. This is a wide-ranging episode about freedom, power, reason, faith, government, and what it means to be fully human.
