Why Are We Still Doing This?

About Why Are We Still Doing This?

Raised in the 80s, trying to parent like its not. Mark hashes out everything from the complexity of failed toxic relationships and his disdain for narcissists, to simplistic fun filled stories featuring shenanigans from yesteryear, with a splash of nostalgia and a sprinkle of destruction caused by teenage angst. Come along and be a part of things that, generally, Mark spends way too much energy thinking about.

Episode #40: RE-RELEASE! "Why Are We Still Afraid Of Ghosts?"

Episode #40 is a very special RE-RELEASE of our very first Halloween edition of Why Are We Still Doing This?, recording in October of 2025. Joined by two of my best friends Kevin and Colin Moran, we talk about the history of their childhood home and the robust amount of paranormal activity over the past 50 years, hilarious Ouija board shenanigans from our youth, a spine chilling recount of coming face to face with an apparition, rules and conditions for ghosts and how they should haunt, connecting with family members long after they’ve left this earth, and much more. This episode features TWO VIDEOS of what we believe is paranormal activity at the Moran family home. If you’re listening on Spotify, you can find the video clip by clicking on a small thumbnail right underneath the date of the show and just above the description. If you’re listening on YouTube, the clips will be embedded into the video. Episode #39: "Why Are We Still Ruining Halloween?"

In episode #39, I’m joined by Kevin and Colin Moran for our second annual Halloween episode of Why Are We Still Doing This?  We chat about the worst Halloween candies and if anyone ever found a razor blade in their peanut butter cups, memories of trick or treating from the 70s through the 90s, notable Halloween movies that made safe spaces feel unsafe, the worst “last minute” costume of all time for one of us, how old is too old for trick or treating, why trunk or treat is killing trick or treat on Halloween, people whose whole personality is “spooky season”, your civil obligation to hand out candy as someone who lives in a neighborhood, and so much more. If you haven’t yet, please check out episode #13 of Why Are We Still Doing This?, which is our first Halloween show from October, 2025.  Filled with terrifying personal paranormal stories about the Moran family home, this episode will scare you, make you laugh, and maybe shed a tear. Episode #38: "Why Are We Still Overcomplicating Laundry?"

In episode 38, we explore neurotic behavior surrounding laundry and its many subtle levels between washings, ADHD hell and trying to figure out if you should shower or exercise first, outside vs. inside clothes, the extreme sport that is successfully navigating public stalls and leaving as germ free as possible, the appearance of capability vs actual capability in cars and how it ties into masculinity, and men who would rather “suck it up” than just be comfortable in situations to avoid being labelled too effeminate.
