Why Do I Give a F&$k about breaking the earth, humanity, and two-ness?
J and Diane are joined by Dr./Prof. Tiffany Octavia Harris, one of our guests from the Charleston episodes, to discuss harm that occurred during the taping during an exchange between her and Diane. We discuss the actual event, get each person's realtion of the impact it had on them, and talk about healing. This discussion is an example of how restorative justice discussions can repair harm so that all involved move forward in wholeness. J and Diane are so greatful to Dr. Harris for her willingness to have this discussion on air. Why Do I Give a F&$k about 250 years of this country? Part II
J and Diane continue their discussion of Why Do I Give a F&$k about 250 years of this country? Part II with their guests. They take a deeper dive into the answers given by their guests and investigate more about the meaning and the depth of the answers given. Did you hear anything in their answers that you resonated with? Each guest was also asked to bring something with them that held significant meaning to them, which they have an opportunity to share after the initial discussion was concluded. We did this to close the circle in a way that allowed each guest to feel heard and seen by all. Thank you again to the Jenkins Youth & Family Village for hosting us, to the Art of Daniel Green for production support, and to all our guests who gave us their time, humor, and presence as we explored this very important question on the 250th anniversary of the US. #jenkinsyouth&familyvillage #artofdanielgreen #250yearsoftheUS #4thofJuly #slaveryapology #charleston #gullahgeechee Please like, subscribe, and share with your communities!

Why Do I Give a F&$k about 250 years of this country? Part I
J and Diane took a road trip to Charleston, SC to record two episodes in community with various local people to have a dialogue about why any of us give a f&$k about 250 years of the US on the eve of July 4th. This is Part I where each participant answers the initial question posed, and offers their deeper feelings about this country as a whole and Charleston in particular. Over 40% of the kidnapped African people brought to the shores of the colonies to be enslaved landed and entered through the port of Charleston. This city continues to capitalize and makes billions of dollars on the antebellum story every year, continuously ranking #1 place to visit by institutions such as Condé Nast. Why do US’ian’s want to hold on to and celebrate such a harmful and violent time in the cities like Charleston, Savannah, and New Orleans that were the portal for so much suffering through the transatlantic slave trade? We explore these questions and more in these episodes. Thank you to each of our participants, the Jenkins Youth & Family Village for hosting us, Daniel Green of Art of Daniel Green productions, and to all of you who have ridden with us for three seasons. #ydigafpodcast #charleston #transatlanticslavetrade #getout #communityiskey #jenkinsyouthandfamilyvillage #artofdanielgreen
