Wilaker: A Journeyer's Podcast

About Wilaker: A Journeyer's Podcast

Wilaker: A Journeyer's Podcast is a limited series podcast from and about comedian Will Abeles. Newly sober, Will put together a six-week nationwide comedy tour in May and June of 2025 to reclaim his identity. Ironically, the stress of putting it together contributed to his first relapse. But Will went anyway, touring from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon, living out of his Subaru while opening for some of his comedy heroes and headlining, or trying to anyway, throughout the Pacific Northwest. But Wilaker isn't a just sobriety podcast. It's a people podcast dedicated to all the conversations and experiences he had with strangers, friends, comics and family along the way. One part Jack Kerouac's On The Road, one part Anthony Bourdain and a huge dollop of Will Abeles storytelling and his failing forward mentality. If you're on a journey of you own, check out Wilaker: A Journeyer's Podcast.

Wilaker: Chapter 20 | What Works For Me (To Each Their Own)

And with that Wilaker: A Journeyer's Podcast comes to an end. The story itself ended in Chapter 19 but I wanted to take the time to go through and discuss a little more intricately my sobriety, what has worked for me, what didn't work for me and more importantly, reiterating the fact that sobriety is a journey unique to the individual. There is not one cure-all for alcoholism. Make it work for you. Whatever it is. But be brave taking that first step. You'll find your footing eventually. Thank you everyone for listening. We'll see what's next. Intro/Outro Kenny Sharp @musiccitykenny Other Sober Accounts @sober.fitness (http://sober.fitness) @creativesobriety

Wilaker: Chapter 19 | Thank God for Ben Roy

The story of Wilaker, my story from falling off the wagon to getting back on while traveling across the Pacific Northwest doing stand-up, is over but much like the Hobbits heading back to the Shire and kicking out Sharkey, it still needed a bit of house keeping at the end. The first 30-40 days after July 30th 2025 were so important in making this thing permanent and funny enough, it was comedy and the comedians I was surrounded by that I can't thank enough for making sure the cement dried. Wilaker: Chapter 18 | The Final Days Back To Day 1

As I'm writing this I'm happy to say, today, July 30th 2026, I'm a year sober. Some times you hit rock bottom before it gets better but in this case, the universe lined up a few chance events so I never actually hit the ground. Either way, today can be the day you put yourself on the path to make the changes you need to finally find the happiness you deserve. Intro/Outro Music by Kenny Sharp @musiccitykenny
