Welcome to Wire’s podcast. We wanted to extend the discussion out from behind the DJ booth - getting to know our favourite artists on a deeper level and find out what makes them tick. The COVID pandemic has hit clubs hard. It’s been an unwelcome break for everyone involved in the music industry and we can’t wait to get back to hosting events whenever that will be. However until that point, we thought we’d keep you warm by recording some interviews with our favourite artists. Both those who have visited before, and those who we've got lined up in the new year.

Wire Podcast 03: Vladimir Ivkovic

Vladimir Ivkovic is one of dance’s music’s most enigmatic figures. Though he has been involved in club music for about two decades as a promoter and DJ, he garnered fame more recently as a resident at Düsseldorf’s Salons des Amateurs club alongside Lena Willikens, Toulouse Low Trax and Wolf Muller. His unique wrong-speed selections helped to maintain this following, earning him big festival slots around the world and reaching a peak as Resident Advisor invited him to guest on their “Art of DJing” feature.

Upon first look the Belgrade born DJ could be perceived as a mystically opaque if not intimidating Rasputin character. But behind the beard is a tender and gentle man who goes about life seeking moments of beauty, nostalgia, love, friendship and deep listening. In this third Wire podcast, Vladimir and our host Oli discuss his new IDM compilation with Ivan Smagghe, managing Loco Dice’s Desolat label, playing Wire with fellow “freaks” Simon Scott and Conor Thomas and the recurrence of memory.
