Dr. Tim Pollock has over 50 years of experience as a pastor at The Home Church in California. In this podcast he goes over theological and cultural questions. You'll love hearing the wisdom that he's gleaned from God's Word over the decades.
Bitterness often begins with something small—a harsh word, betrayal, disappointment, or injustice. But when hurt is left untreated, it can take root and begin poisoning our joy, relationships, worship, and testimony.
In this episode of Wisdom’s Way, Dr. Tim Pollock looks at the story of Esau and the warning of Hebrews 12:15 to show how sorrow can become resentment, resentment can become bitterness, and bitterness can eventually produce hatred.
How do we break free? Dr. Tim shares five practical steps for uprooting bitterness: recognize the root, release the offense, replace the thoughts, respond with love, and rest in the sovereignty of God.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending the hurt never happened or automatically restoring trust. It means placing the matter into God’s hands and refusing to allow someone else’s wrongdoing to rob you of another day of joy and usefulness.
God’s grace is greater than any wound.

How Do You Know If You’re Proud? | Ep 56
Pride is easy to recognize in someone else—but much harder to see in ourselves.
In this episode of Wisdom’s Way, Dr. Tim Pollock asks a challenging question: Where is pride hiding in me? Using the story of Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4, Dr. Tim examines how success and prosperity can quietly turn into self-sufficiency, how God sometimes uses humbling circumstances to get our attention, and why everything we have ultimately comes from Him.
You’ll also discover four practical ways to fight pride: remember that every blessing comes from God, redirect the glory to Him, regularly serve others, and rehearse the Gospel every day.
Humility isn’t believing that you’re worthless or have nothing to offer. It is recognizing that God is God, we are not, and every good thing in our lives is ultimately a gift of His grace.

How Should We Interpret the Bible? | Ep. 55
Two people can read the same Bible verse and walk away with completely different ideas about what it means. So how do we know which interpretation is right?
In this episode of Wisdom’s Way, Dr. Tim Pollock explains the basic principles of biblical hermeneutics—the principles we use to understand what Scripture actually means. Using the simple acrostic TRUTH, Dr. Tim gives five practical rules for interpreting the Bible: Take the text in its plain meaning, Read the context, Understand the historical and grammatical setting, Test Scripture with Scripture, and Heed the truth you discover.
You’ll also learn the important difference between interpretation and application, why context matters, how Scripture helps interpret Scripture, and why our goal should never be to make the Bible say what we want it to say.
Our job is not to make the Bible mean something. Our job is to discover what God already meant.
