Welcome to Team Hot Mess.
What if you don’t actually want to be rich? What if you just want enough money to feel free?
I grew up with a pretty fucked-up relationship with money. We were evicted several times, money could disappear almost overnight, and I knew very early that I didn’t want to live like that as an adult.
It took me years to rebuild that relationship. First, I wanted money to make me feel safe. Now? I want it to help me build a life I actually want to be alive for.
In this solo episode, I’m talking about what “enough” means to me, why my version of rich is surprisingly unsexy, and why I don’t want work to consume the life it’s supposed to be funding.
And we’re getting practical. I’ll walk you through the three numbers/questions I think everyone should know:
→ Your floor: what does your actual life cost every month?
→ Your enough: what gives you room to save, invest, breathe and have some fucking fun?
→ Your value: what do you actually want your money to give you more of? Mine is freedom, by the way.
We’ll also talk about my recent $160-a-month subscription wake-up call, why you should audit your statements at least once a year, spending money on joy without feeling guilty, and why “more” will keep winning forever if you never decide what enough looks like. Because maybe rich isn’t yachts, designer shit or seven bathrooms.
Maybe rich is having people around your dinner table. Taking Friday afternoon off. Buying the plane ticket. Surviving an emergency. Doing work you care about. Or simply knowing you have enough money in the background that your days still feel like yours.

Your Bank Statement Knows what You Value. But Does it Tell The Truth? with Karina Pribil-Corbett
What would your bank statement say you value? Not what you say matters to you. Not what you put on your vision board. What does the way you actually spend, save and think about money say?
In this episode, I’m joined by financial therapist Karina Pribil-Corbett (https://www.instagram.com/getemotionallyinvested/) to talk about the psychology behind our money decisions, and why being “good with money” is about a hell of a lot more than budgeting.
We get into value-based spending, money fights in relationships, lifestyle expectations, buying a house because you think you’re supposed to, using money to cope, the subscriptions we somehow convince ourselves we still need (guilty 🙋🏻♀️), and why knowing what you should do financially doesn’t magically make you do it.
We also talk about one of my biggest values: freedom - and the slightly uncomfortable realization that if I say I value freedom, my money should probably be helping me buy more of it.
This isn’t Finance 101.
It’s a conversation about the weird, emotional, very human relationship we have with money, and how to make sure yours is actually helping you build a life you want.
So here’s your question before you press play:
If I looked at your bank statement, would I be able to tell what you value?

Why Are We So Bad at Having Hobbies?
What do you do for fun?
And no... your job doesn’t count. Your business doesn’t count. Your Goodreads goal is questionable. And if your “hobby” already has an Instagram account, domain name and three potential pricing tiers… babe, we need to talk. 😂
Because something weird is happening.
We’re becoming increasingly perfectionistic while simultaneously desperately searching for hobbies. Digital-detox searches are up. Analog hobbies are booming. We’re knitting, journaling, running, painting, making pottery and apparently desperately trying to remember what humans did before every spare second came with a screen, metric or potential side hustle.
So in this solo episode of WithGen, I’m asking: why are we so bad at doing things purely because we enjoy them?
We get into the psychology of intrinsic motivation, the rise in perfectionism, what research says about creativity and next-day wellbeing, and why ambitious people in particular can be very, very good at turning their entire lives into projects.
Because somewhere along the way, we took the things we used to do to escape performance… and started measuring our performance in them.
Maybe you don’t need another goal. Maybe you need something you’re mediocre at. Something nobody needs from you. Something you don’t monetize, track, optimize or turn into content. Something that simply makes your Tuesday nicer.
And maybe that’s enough. Actually, maybe that’s the entire point. ❤️
