15. What It Really Means to Be Mentally Healthy

Mental health is often misunderstood as always feeling happy, peaceful, motivated, or in control. But real mental health is not emotional perfection, and it is not the absence of struggle.

In this episode, I explore what it really means to be mentally healthy. Using the comparison of physical fitness, I explain mental health as the capacity to face life in a healthy way, even when life is painful, uncertain, or overwhelming.

This episode focuses on four pillars of mental health: strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance. I also acknowledge that not everyone begins in the same place. Some people start life with more support, safety, and stability, while others begin with more pain, stress, and fewer resources. But wherever we begin, growth and healing are still possible.

Maybe the question is not, “How do I stay okay all the time?”
Maybe the better question is, “What am I building inside of me for when life gets hard?”

14. Anxiety: A response to overstimulation

Consider taking sixty seconds to sit without doing anything. Let your attention soften. Let your breath deepen. Let your system know that there’s nothing it needs to fix right now. Nothing needs to be tracked.

Just presence.

Just here.

Just you.

13. Anxiety: A demand for boundaries

You are allowed to change the rules you live by. You are allowed to protect your peace. You are allowed to say: “This is too much for me right now.” You are allowed to want more space, more rest, more truth.

You are allowed to build a life where your nervous system doesn’t always have to be on alert.

And it begins with boundaries. Not as punishment. Not as isolation. But as the quiet decision to matter to yourself.
