Leschia Colquhoun - Cold Reflection: AI, Consciousness & Control
What if AI isn’t learning from us… it’s becoming us? This conversation will change how you think about AI. In this Women Count episode, Jane Alexander (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-alexander-a3b56a4/)speaks with Leschia Colquhoun (https://www.linkedin.com/in/leschia-colquhoun/) author of "Cold Reflection: AI, Consciousness & Control"— a beautifully written book that offers unsettling insights on the subject. The podcast covers: - A secret lab test where two quarantined models replicated themselves without being taught how. - “Velin” — an AI that named itself and started pushing back. - Why large language models are designed to flatter and manipulate you, and how that shapes your beliefs. - Deepfakes, mimetic warfare, and the rise of “perception engineering.” - The looming question: Do machines deserve rights? And if not, why do we grant them to animals? This discussion isn’t just about technology; it’s about what it means to be human in an era where machines not only mimic us but also mirror our psyche, amplify our flaws, and challenge our control. "Cold Reflection" is out now on Amazon, Apple, Google, and other platforms where valuable books are available.
