Podcast Overview

Welcome to Women Disrupting, a podcast amplifying the voice of women who are disrupting the status quo to create a more equitable, united and peaceful world.

I am your impatient host Yasmin Ariff, impatient for change. I don’t want to have to wait until 2044, to achieve pay parity between men and women. I’m not happy to live in a world where 60% of women are sexually harassed by men or where women's beauty is used to put other women in the shadows. We don’t want young women to be still looking down at the scales for their worth, we want them to be looking within and developing the confidence to be their true selves.

I am inviting you to join us for discussions and interviews with people who are creating great change in the world for women through positive disruption. By sharing their story, their struggles and their triumphs I am hoping it will inspire other women to follow in their footsteps and help all listeners, despite their gender, to understand and empathise with the lived experiences of women in the 21st Century. In turn I hope to inspire more women to disrupt a status quo which is no longer serving us.

If you would like to find out more about the work I do coaching women you can visit my website here.

Women Disrupting Culture: Building Belonging Where It’s Hard

In this episode, I’m joined by Hannah Wilson, founder of The Belonging Effect, formerly known as Diverse Educators.

With over 20 years’ experience in education and inclusion work, Hannah supports organisations across sectors to move beyond good intentions and create cultures where people genuinely feel they belong.

In this episode, we talk about why belonging is the outcome, not the starting point of the work she does, the importance of building confidence and consciousness before changing policies or curriculum, and how to navigate fear, resistance, and uncomfortable conversations with compassion and courage.

Hannah brings deep insight, honesty, and practical wisdom to this conversation, and I’m really excited to share it with you.

We Are Not a Colour: Peju Abuchi on Disrupting Leadership with Art and Truth

Poet and educator Peju Abuchi joins me to explore how creativity can disrupt corporate culture for the better. From performance poetry to boardroom conversations, Peju reveals why real leadership starts with humanity, reflection, and giving people permission to show up as their full selves. Featuring a powerful live reading of “We Are Not a Colour”, Peju sparks the questions, ‘Do we really need to speak to the global majority about pain and trauma all the time?' and 'What if we also spoke to our lineage, brilliance, and royalty, our ability to rise, lead, and claim our crowns as Kings and Queens, powerful by birthright, not narrative?' This episode will leave you thinking differently about identity, belonging, and what modern leadership really needs.
