Kindness Leads to Connection: Why Networking Works Better Without the Sales Pitch
Be honest: when someone stands up to do their 60-second pitch at a networking event, are you listening? Or are you rehearsing yours?
Exactly. Neither is anyone else.
This week it's just me, talking about the strapline behind Women Inspired Network: kindness leads to connection, connection leads to collaboration, and collaboration is where the magic happens. It came about almost by accident while I was building WIN, but it sums up everything I believe about networking, and everything I've watched happen in our rooms.
We talk about why the traditional pitch-and-sit-down format means nobody is really listening, why turning up once and expecting a sale nearly always ends in disappointment, and why three good connections are worth far more than 20 business cards you'll never look at again. I also share how one woman nearly didn't walk through the door, and what happened when she did.
(And yes, there's a story about me running an event with a 10-day-old baby in tow. I still don't know what I was thinking. 🙈)

I Turned 40 and Started a New Business: What Networking Made Possible
What if the business you've been dreaming about is only a few conversations away?
I've just turned 40, and I've just launched my third business. Neither of those is the bit that surprises me most.
This week I'm flying solo. Since starting Women Inspired Network in February 2025, I've launched the Success Circle, and now Mumma Connections, structured networking events for mums. And I'm someone who finds it really hard to dream big. I'm scared of failing, so I keep my goals in a safe little box. So how did a brand new business go from an idea to launched events in just a few months, over the summer holidays of all times?
We talk about why kindness beats a sales pitch every time, why dreaming big feels so scary (and why you have to do it anyway), and why one networking event won't change your life, but turning up consistently just might.

Is Network Marketing a Scam? Busting the Biggest Myths – with Lisa Prescott
Can I tell you something that might surprise you?

Yes, that network marketing. The one everyone says is a scam.
This week I sit down with Lisa Prescott, a Forever Living business owner and the woman who popped up on my social media six years ago when I was sat with a five-month-old baby, Googling how I could stay at home and still earn money. Lisa was a police detective when a friend messaged her to come round with £200 and start a business. She was sure she'd be terrible at it. Thirteen years and four children later, she never even went back to clear out her locker.
We talk about the difference between a pyramid scheme and network marketing, why so many people quit in the first two months, and why "I haven't got time" and "I can't afford it" might be the stories keeping you stuck, in any business, not just this one.
