This is a podcast for all the girls and women, who've ever worked for an employer or for themselves. I want to hear about your experiences of the workplace, whether it's virtual or a physical place you have to show up to every day and what it's like for you on a day-to-day basis. In the first series of episodes, I share my experience of working in a male-dominated industry in the UK. I worked as a consultant in Building Engineering and after nearly 15 years, I decided to take my talent, my energy, my passion and my motivation to a place where they could be fully realised.
Happy Listening!
Episode Summary
When I walked out of a consultant’s office after being told that my womb was barely visible due to massive fibroids, I knew that I needed to take charge of my health.
In this episode, I share the raw, personal story behind my mission: Myomectomy Prep. After successfully having 18 fibroids removed (the equivalent of 3 grapefruits and 15 plums), I realised that while surgeons handle the operation, patients are often left in the dark about how to prepare their bodies and minds for the best possible outcome.
Using my clinical experience working as a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner with fibroid sufferers, I explain why recovery starts long before you enter the operating theater and how addressing the underlying factors—from hormonal balance to blood sugar control—can transform your healing journey.
The Shock of Diagnosis: Claire’s personal journey from panic to a successful myomectomy.
The "Root Cause" Shift: Why we must look beyond just the physical symptoms to prepare for surgery.
The 10 Key Areas of Preparation: A sneak peek into the protocols that help women thrive post-op, including nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle management.
Practical Recovery Tips: What "prep" actually looks like in your daily life.

Women of Calibre - Episode 2: Amira
In this episode, we welcome the wonderful Amira to the show. She shares her incredible journey and life experiences with us. She describes her fascinating evolution from studying journalism to becoming an Energy Healer & Wellbeing coach. As an Ayurvedic lifestyle consultant, and folk and plant medicine practitioner, her passion for indigenous wisdom and teachings drove her to the far-flung corners of the world, from India to Peru.
She learned hands-on from the women and elders and never missed an opportunity! From cooking with the Bedouins in Egypt to learning herbalism from the nomadic tribes of Turkey and Iran, first-first-hand.
Her approach is highly practical and mystical in equal parts. Her sole purpose is wellbeing on every level and her joy emanates from sharing skills and knowledge that she's built up over the years, on how to stay strong and equanimous in the eye of the storm. She draws from the teachings of Sexual Kung-fu (Taoism), Advaita Vedanta, Ayurveda, Reiki and teach the art of Pink Tantra.

Episode 8 - Special Birthday Edition! - Escaping the Rat Race!
In this episode, I respond to a request from a dear friend, whose birthday it is. I sent him a 2 hour video with really poor sound quality, so I've rerecorded the key milestones that led me out of the 9-5 into a life of passion and purpose which I conceived a long time ago.
I talk about working in Engineering in the UK Construction industry, which is the gift that keeps on giving and that will probably end up paying dividends.
I talk about the amazing Black women who saved my sanity during the lockdowns and the 15-month period working from home. I talk about knowing that I had more to offer working for myself than I would ever have been allowed to contribute as a defenseless cog in an intersectional, misogynistic, racist, bigoted and toxic work environment surrounded by enough ill will to keep the National Electricity Grid going, if it had been powered by bad vibes.
I talk briefly about the health challenges that shaped my thinking and the projects that I have under way.
I mention these stories on Medium:
1. Brava Nullipara vs Uterine Fibroids (https://medium.com/@cedfowler/brava-nullipara-vs-uterine-fibroids-e4358b4d5eec?sk=51561bb365f854616a610f66f026f421)
2. The Women in Construction Event (https://medium.com/@cedfowler/on-being-invisible-e5d32ba229a3?sk=7bb91a37322f6628c293090ee4ca7946)

You'll be able to listen to or read all 3 stories for free, but if you want to join Medium, you can use my referral link: https://medium.com/@cedfowler/membership.
