   89. Projection, Fantasy & the Person You Thought They Were

In this episode of Women's Embodiment, I explore projection and fantasy in relationships: why we fill the gaps early on, why we keep believing someone could become somebody else, and why so many women carry shame and self-blame when a relationship turns out to be with a person who never really existed. I unpack where the pull to project comes from (lack, urgency, old wounds and unmet needs). I also look at how love-bombing creates whiplash, and why naivety does not carry the same weight as another person's dishonest behaviour. We also look at what fantasy does to your perception: what you minimise, what you avoid asking, and how much energy goes into maintaining a version of someone that reality no longer supports. I share the questions I use with clients to tell projection from being genuinely misled. Finally, we cover how to update your perception and your access as people reveal themselves over time, without shutting down your hope for secure love. __________________________________________________ Key Highlights 🪞 Filling the gaps: When there is lack or urgency inside us, we fill the unknowns with hope and assumptions instead of discernment. 🎭 The mask that slips: The best version shown to gain access cracks once the honeymoon fades, conflict arrives or commitment is asked. 🧭 Projection versus being misled: You are not foolish for believing what a person consistently showed you at the start; the work begins when the evidence changes. 🥕 The dangling carrot: Consistency, reliability and emotional availability are foundations of a relationship, not rewards to keep waiting for. 🔍 How fantasy rearranges perception: It shapes what you notice, what you excuse and how you behave to preserve what you believe is possible. 🧠 When psychology becomes the story: Attachment and trauma language should increase your contact with reality, never explain behaviour away. __________________________________________________ Resources & Next Steps 💞 Learn more about The Alchemy of Connection (https://www.womensembodiment.com/alchemy-of-connection-1-4dbc134e-3529-4acb-8d2b-c3770a0a8ba0) 🌐 Take the Free Quiz (https://womensembodiment.scoreapp.com) 🎓 Watch the Free Training (https://www.womensembodiment.com/aoc-masterclass-opt-in) 🎧 Subscribe to Women's Embodiment on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/womens-embodiment-with-kerrie-louise/id1563559144) 🎧 Subscribe to Women's Embodiment on Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/show/30gqemc9JGbeGtfN51P5dx) __________________________________________________ Chapter Timestamps 00:00 Welcome and who this episode is for 02:23 Why we project and fantasize early on 06:00 Positive and negative projections 08:43 Why the best version cannot be maintained 10:30 Naivety versus destructive behaviour 11:04 Projection or genuinely misled 14:02 Congruent people do not give you whiplash 16:46 Judge character and consistency, not motive 19:13 When the evidence starts changing 21:24 The dangling carrot 23:05 Patterns wired in childhood 24:45 Fantasy protects us from feelings 28:04 Relating to potential instead of behaviour 31:24 How fantasy rearranges perception 35:21 Holding two versions of the same person 37:42 People reveal themselves over time 40:19 Do not turn ambiguity into meaning 42:29 Questions to ask yourself 46:51 The three buckets 48:33 Psychological literacy and fantasy 52:02 Closing thoughts

   88. How to Spot Emotional Availability and Compatibility in Relationships

In this episode of Women's Embodiment, I explore how to spot emotional availability and compatibility in your relationships, romantic, platonic or professional. If you keep landing in mismatched relationships, over-giving and under-receiving, or feeling that the early chemistry never carried through to the depth you wanted, this one is for you. I unpack why we read vulnerability, deep conversation and therapy language as proof that someone can meet us, when those things are only one part of the whole. Emotional availability becomes visible under relational demand: when you are disappointed, when you say no, when you need more closeness or more space. We then look at why compatibility becomes clearer through difference and disagreement rather than similarity, and what happens when separateness gets weaponised instead of held. I walk through the honeymoon stage, the fight to individuate, and the questions that reveal whether a relationship can hold two sovereign people. Finally, I share why to stop assessing someone's potential and start assessing the relational capacity they show right now: presence, reciprocity, differentiation, responsibility, repair and consistency. I close with five questions to ask before you emotionally invest in anyone. __________________________________________________ Key Highlights 🔍 Connection is not availability: Chemistry, shared values and deep talk are one component, not proof of the relationship skills a healthy partnership needs. ⚡ It shows under pressure: Availability becomes visible under relational demand: disappointment, a boundary, a bid for closeness or space. If someone collapses there, you have seen their capacity. 🎭 Accessible vulnerability versus true availability: Sharing wounds can stay fully within someone's control. True availability is what happens when your emotional reality enters the room. 🧭 Compatibility through difference: The real test is whether separateness and disagreement can be held, or get weaponised into withdrawal and withheld love. 📏 Assess capacity, not potential: Stop plugging gaps with hope. Observe presence, reciprocity, differentiation, responsibility, repair and consistency over time. __________________________________________________ Resources & Next Steps 🌐 Take the Free Quiz (https://womensembodiment.scoreapp.com) 🎓 Watch the Free Training (https://www.womensembodiment.com/aoc-masterclass-opt-in) 🎧 Subscribe to Women's Embodiment on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/womens-embodiment-with-kerrie-louise/id1563559144) 🎧 Subscribe to Women's Embodiment on Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/show/30gqemc9JGbeGtfN51P5dx) __________________________________________________ Chapter Timestamps 00:00 Who this episode is for 03:53 The three things we cover 05:09 Connection is not availability 07:02 It shows under relational demand 10:40 Questions to ask under pressure 12:48 Accessible vulnerability versus true availability 18:03 Deep conversations are not proof 20:03 Compatibility through difference 23:27 Honeymoon, then individuation 26:33 Questions for disagreement 30:04 Co-creating a third reality 33:16 Stop assessing potential 36:01 Presence and reciprocity 38:31 Differentiation and responsibility 42:08 Repair and consistency 46:24 Five questions before you invest 48:55 The question to leave with

   87. Having High Standards: Dating & Relating Without Self-Abandonment

In this episode of Women's Embodiment, I explore what it means to date and relate from a place of high standards without abandoning yourself. If you have ever asked whether your standards are too high, or walked in knowing your non negotiables and watched them quietly collapse, this one is for you, whether you are dating, partnered or in a season of inner work. I talk about why it starts with holding ourselves to the standard we ask of others, and why the stronger the attachment activation, the more likely we are to lower the bar. We separate standards from preferences and look at how perfectionism and fantasy become protection that keeps intimacy out. I walk through reasonable versus unreasonable expectations, then the relational capacities worth a high standard: emotional availability, integrity, reciprocity, communication, self responsibility and the bandwidth to invest. We finish with what actually creates your standards: not a checklist, but what you embody in practice, and why overinvesting in potential never makes an incompatible relationship compatible. __________________________________________________ ⚖️ Standards versus preferences: Standards are non negotiables about how a relationship functions. Preferences are allowed, but should never outweigh deeper values. 🛡️ Standards as protection: When nobody ever qualifies, it is perfectionism as protection, and intimacy never gets a chance. 💭 Fantasy as avoidance: A repeated fantasy points to a feeling you are trying to access in place of your lived reality. 🤝 Relational capacity: Look for emotional availability, integrity and reciprocity, and ask whether you embody them too. 🏡 Behavior over potential: Judge what someone shows up to now, not the life they say they want eventually. 🌱 Embodied standards: A standard you back up when challenged is a standard. One you override in relationship is still an idea. __________________________________________________ Key Highlights 🌐 Take the Free Quiz (https://womensembodiment.scoreapp.com) 🎓 Watch the Free Training (https://www.womensembodiment.com/aoc-masterclass-opt-in) 💫 Explore Our Signature Relationship Transformation Course (https://www.womensembodiment.com/alchemy-of-connection-1-4dbc134e-3529-4acb-8d2b-c3770a0a8ba0) 🎧 Subscribe to Women's Embodiment on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/womens-embodiment-with-kerrie-louise/id1563559144) 🎧 Subscribe to Women's Embodiment on Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/show/30gqemc9JGbeGtfN51P5dx)
