I used to be an English language teacher and I was teaching English as a second language and I was teaching in Manchester and I had lots of Polish students at the time and I was intrigued as to why some of them seemed to be learning English with a Manchester accent and some of them didn't and that became my PhD and ever since then I've been interested in this.
