About Working Healthcare

Who holds the power in American healthcare — and how can we change it? Working Healthcare takes you inside the business of medicine, revealing the policies, players and financial incentives shaping access to care. Host Meredith Hirsh, a healthcare entrepreneur, educator, speaker and advocate, brings an insider’s perspective and a willingness to ask uncomfortable questions. Each week, she sits down with physicians, business leaders, policy experts and innovators to explore the system’s failures, the ideas challenging them and the personal journeys behind meaningful change. From health insurance and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to Medicare Advantage, private practice and healthcare leadership, these candid conversations connect money and policy to human consequences. Understand why care gets delayed, what threatens physician independence and how people are building better alternatives. For everyone working in healthcare — and anyone curious enough to question how it works. You can’t fix what you don’t understand. Follow Working Healthcare for new episodes every Tuesday. […] The doctors don't follow up with it, and so it just kind of sits there. But basically, dense breast tissue, of course, is harder to see on a mammogram. And so screening supplementally with ultrasound can help increase more breast cancer detection. you know, what we're doing is they're getting notified on the bus at the time of their screening. That's what I want to talk about. So you have created this bus, which is very intriguing to me. You had enough money. You retired with the system. You're like, to heck with this. I'm going to work for myself. Describe what you do, Ryan. Okay. So yeah, we basically, I like to describe this as a patient-centric system. for treating patients in breast cancer screening. […]
